My new boat is in! Moomba Max

Forgot I took some pics playing around with lengthening the wave using the wake plate. This was only with about 25% rear ballast and 40% front for a quick test but you get the idea of how the length changes.

Yesterday while visiting my parents house and checking out the boat I noticed a little gouge on my new boat that I can feel with my fingernail in it :(

I'm pretty sure it happened last weekend at Chuck's Pizza/Marina main dock on Lake Martin. There are these stupid metal braces that are around the dock. I had to use 4 fenders and get creative while putting fenders on those braces to try and keep my boat off of the metal but it seems it made a very light contact.

The flake hides it pretty good but I noticed it while walking around and the light hit the gouge just right making it visible to me. I've asked members of the Supra Moomba group what they suggest and they said to use some clear nail polish and then buff. Sanding it would not be ideal for this small of a repair and would likely make it more noticeable they said. Spectrum doesn't seem to carry the Moomba ultra blue paste kits so I may try the finger nail polish and buff. I'm just worried the nail polish may yellow or turn real brittle and crack out later on down the road but I don't know. I know it's very very minor lol but you know how it is with a new boat. Sure more scratches will likely happen over the years but just sucks for now. I did place an order tonight for 4 Exile BOGO Buoy Balls that blow up to 18". They are like the kids hippity hop balls but with possibly a thicker material and no kids graphics. While that sucks, it’s pretty damn small! If you hadn’t circled it in the first picture not sure I would have noticed.
 
Yea it's thankfully very small. I'll never dock there again if I'm on the side with the metal braces. I got shipping confirmation from Exile Audio within 30 minutes of ordering which is crazy but awesome! It's going to be raining this weekend so no boating but I'll have them in time for our next outing. Going to hopefully be a surf session all day dialing in the wave with some friends.
 
I know this might fall on deaf ears because its a brand new gorgeous boat but just so you have someone saying it in case you need to hear it - just let it go or at least put off fixing and see how you feel about it in a month or so. Its really minor and I doubt anyone but you will ever notice it. I do feel your pain though - that first scratch is brutal no matter how small.
 
That sucks. The first time I took my Yamaha to a restaurant with wood pier style docks the dock hand told me not to worry about fenders because the wood posts are soft. They did a number on my shiny stainless rub rails so I was pissed. Not as bad as gel coat damage, but you understand I am sure. Some people kind of smirk at me, but when I go to those docks I tie two of the hull-hugger fenders to each post rather than putting them on the boat. They never move so the boat is always protected. It's hard to tell, but maybe that is possible solution if you go back there. At my wife's family place we have cedar docks with the poles mounted on the outside. He father was a genius and mounted a 2x6's running vertically on the poles with dock edge bumpers running the length of them. When tie up the only place the boat contacts the dock is at the rub rail. No fender rash, ever. It goes against the mold, but I swear by putting fenders on the dock, rather than the boat.
 
Man, no one will ever notice that! You knew it was bound to happen. It's probably the first of many too. No way to prevent small scratches here and there unless you keep it in the garage 24/7 365 days a year and what fun is that? Have fun with it, and don't drive yourself crazy over it or it will never be fun.
 
First ding is over with now...... you are good to go for the rest of the year.
 
Sucks to get your first ding, but that's impossibly small. Not sure how you even noticed. Nice perk of the flake: little stuff blends right in.
 
Dropped her off for the break-in service and recall inspection. Hopefully I get her back in 2 weeks or before. They told me they would try and move me up but they are swamped with a lot of other new owners bringing their boats in for the first service. Sleep well Max and we’ll be ready to finally surf when I see you next! :D

My salesman also told me they likely have my AR192 sold in the Atlanta area. They’ve already shipped her over to their ATL store. Hope the new owner finds this site and enjoys it as much as we did.

How diff is the dual axle trailer? I'm nervous about the bigger size lol.

I love it! Rides so much better than the single axle Shorelandr trailer did. Dual disc brakes are great too as I’ve had to use them once or twice lol.

I found my single axle to be very touchy like you barely turn the wheel and Jack knife lol. Is the dual axle a bit less touchy when backing her down? Still a bit nervous going from a 19 to a 24.5

Nah it’s great and not twitchy. For starters there’s a lot more weight which helps but also the length takes the twitchy feeling out. Backing it up I’m much more precise than the shorter 19’ trailer. The Boatmate trailer is well built and feels solid. You’ll be fine.

Sick. I also upgraded the jack since it will be sitting on the trailer in a driveway. Just confirmed with my dealer she is Def salt worthy. So I will be taking her in the sound. Prob not to wakesurf just for cruising around.
 
Yes in the Indmar owners manual it tells you the engine and such is ok for salt water use. The engine is closed cooling. The exhaust cats and other areas are raw water cooled so those are the areas to deal with corrosion. I would highly recommend you getting the Indmar flush kit. I don’t think I’d have the balls to take mine to the gulf. The boat would be fine but it’s just too nice to deal with all the salt cleanup lol. Did you get a spray date yet and are you planning on going to do a factory tour? If you time it right you can see yours being built on the line like I did with my Max. It’s pretty cool seeing how they’re built.

I won't use the ballast since I don't want any salt water going through the pumps unless it was somehow necessary due to super chop or some shit. Since mine is all white im a bit lucky with the salt clean up. But I've gotten very anal and use to cleaning the entire boat after every use. And my dad is the sound guy. I'm a lake guy. And he doesn't get how much work it is to take a boat out with just my mom.

Basically the exhaust manifolds are raw water cooled, so salt water will pass through them when you boat in the ocean or sound. The flush kit is basically an easy way to flush the exhaust. You would need to check with your dealer if Salt Away would be OK to use. I don't see why it wouldn't but best to ask them or someone who takes these boats into salt water. The engine block is the only thing cooled by antifreeze I believe. The v drive and transmission have their own fluids as well but I think water may run to them too? I'm still too new on what all does what and where in these boats but perhaps @OrangeTJ can chime in since he has the same engine for a few years now. You can see the flush kit/reservoir (clear looking tube with blue cap) in the bottom left corner by the v drive.

I'd love to go but prob can't swing flying to Tennessee. I have a bit of traveling to do before she's finished. I don't have a spray date yet but if I remember correctly he said he would have it by end of July. Now I gotta get my AR195 to him to see what he wants to give us. If I don't like his number we will prob sell private party since we have about 30 hours on a boat thats already sold out in WA for the year. But since he sold yamaha boats st the same dealership he knows how easy it will sell. But he also came down $10k off MSRP so we have wiggle room. How was the tour BTW?
