When the SeaKeeper Ride was installed, I also got a NEMA 2000 backbone installed between the NSX and Ride display. The Connext appears to have a NEMA 2000 port.
If I add the Connext to the NEMA 2000 backbone will the NSX and Connext talk to each other?
Will I be able to display engine data on the NSX?

I don't have the answer to your question, but that sounds like a heck of a cool ride with the Seakeeper and NSX.

Generally, just because things are "NMEA2K compatible" doesn't mean that the Connext is set to output engine data or that the NSX is configured to receive and display it.

The connext does not output any engine data on N2k, You only get Speed and Water Temp.

How did you get the ride app to work on the nsx?
I get web app not available on the mfd

This has been well discussed and researched. Yamaha does use NMEA, but the data is encrypted or in a proprietary format that most standard devices cannot utilize. Unlike their outboards. Sorry.

As a curious envelope pusher, I have to ask.
Will I break anything if I put the Connext on the NEMA backbone?
I gotta see if there is anything there to see.

Since the Connext is outputting the NMEA, and not the ECM, Im doubtful Yamaha is even outputting encrypted engine data. My personal opinion is they have the connext setup to only output whats its outputing, there was no point to go to the effort to add the encrypted engine data as nothing could use it anyway.

Made the connection.
Connext did not show on the NEMA list on the Simrad.
Removed the Connext from the backbone

Did you reset nsx? I added seakeeper. I had to update then reset nsx then seakeeper app showed up. Not a big deal as long as you don't have routes and fishing spots saved.

But the seakeeper did show up in nsx nema device list before reset.
