Another option is on Atlantic beach, Palm suites. It's a condotel with 8 boat slips. Rooms run 150 to 175 ish and slips are 25 per night. A friend has a unit and we stayed this past weekend for music festival . Plenty of hotels back in New Bern a couple have docks. I have room at my dock for 1 boat. Neutron and I are going to try this run soon.
I haven't stayed there, but from what I understand, the Bask hotel was recently completely remodeled and is pretty nice. I have docked at the Jaycees docks numerous occasions. You are in walking distance to at least 5 or six great restaurants and Jack's Bar for those like myself that enjoy a little nightlife every now and then. During the Lookout Shootout poker run, the power boaters use the Bask.
This video I made has some footage of the Morehead waterfront and you can see the Bask, Jaycees docks and Jack's Bar as well as Beaufort inlet, Cape Lookout, etc

We made the trip despite not awesome weather. I was so proud of the family to do this trip and how everyone handled the boat ramp search and the weather.
We Arrived in New Bern, NC and the wind was blowing from the West so the first 3 boat ramps didn't have enough water to launch the boat (wind from the West made for a VERY low tide). We finally launched from Launched from Lawrence Creek and headed down the Neuse towards Adams Creek and on towards Beaufort, NC. We ended up using Lawson Creek, but there are two Lawrence Creek ramps and I only saw the 1 at first and it is HORRIBLE. the ramp ends quickly and there is a 3 foot drop.
The Neuse was CHOPPY due to the wind and it was a bumpy ride. Once we got into Adams Creek it was smooth and this is where we saw the dolphins. When we exited Adams Creek the waters got rough again. We arrived in Beaufort and got gas and headed to the beach to play. We only had a couple hours to play since we got a late start, but we headed back to New Bern following the same route about 5:00. The trip home should have taken about 1.5 hours, but due to weather it took closer to 2.5 hours. We had plenty of gas and the boat did great.
60% of the way home was great but once we got into the Neuse River again... well, let’s just say the tiny ship was tossed . Rough water, about 3-4 foot waves beat us up all the way home. Once we got about 5 miles from the boat ramp the skies opened and it dumped rain on us all the way to the boat ramp.
All told we traveled 100 miles by boat in 1 day and had a great adventure!!!
Brave...... We went out in Swansboro/Emerald Isle yesterday and the wind was whipping. Like my wife said.... Any day out here is better than a day at home.
Brave family.
Yesterday was a doozy here in New Bern. Dowtown flooded bad last evening. Wind was blowing all day.
Had my granddaughter all day so we spent day in the pool. Never took boat out
I made the trip for the first time on Monday . Followed a buddy down and we hung out at carrot island for a few hours then went over to shack . Had a late lunch/early dinner then got gas in Morehead and headed home. We had a little weather on way back , but Neuse was not rough. It was a fun trip and will do it again.

I read that the LAwson creek park is not a good place to park a truck/trailer overnight. Anyone know of a decent place to leave a vehicle overnight convenient to a launch ?

@justason I launch from Merchants on brices creek. Its only sketchy if the river is super low and they have gas pumps on and off the water. Never left my trailer overnight but i personally would leave it there if i needed to
If ya bring a chase vehicle ya can leave your truck and trailer rig at my house 2 miles away

Brice's creek looks like a ball!! assuming its deep enough !
I'm going to eliminate the Neuse River this journey and put in at Core creek $10 to launch and $10 to leave a car. It'll give me the chance to run north and see Oriental if the weather allows.
Does mathews point Marina have a launch? google earth doesn't make it appear so.
Thank you
