to even remotely touch the purpose built surf boats they're going to have to up the ballast capability stock. Until they're able to run 3k+ lbs of ballast out the gate it won't ever really compare. It'll be ok, at best, with only 1600 lbs of ballast.
Absolutely. Our boat came with 5,000 pounds of factory ballast and the boat itself started out heavier than a 24' Yamaha. These boats also come with hulls that are designed first and foremost to produce a wake that is shaped and sized for wakesports. Then you add a propulsion system that starts well below the surface and directs its turbulence at an angle downward from the wake, not directly into it.
