Opinions on wrap protection?

I just got this ar195 that was wrapped previously. It looks like the wrap had some damage from loading it on the trailer and tagging the trailer fender. What can I do to protect it? The options I've found are a submersible grip tape or bed liner. I'm just wanting to go from rear of boat following the contour lines and tapper down just infront of the fender to make it pleasing to look at. Thoughts? Will the bed liner being just a small 4" x 8-9' strip cause too much drag? I've added pics.
