I found a new leftover 14 HO I out state. Due weather they said I would not be able to test the boat on the lake. Any suggestion on how to make sure the boat is in good condition? They said the boat has 0 hours and never been On the water.

Can you give some more details? For instance, if the boat is near a flooded lake, there is bound to be lakes relatively nearby that could be used for a test run.

I know @txav8r purchased out of state.

All they said is that due to bad weather I would be able to put the boat on the lake for another week or two. I Will be picking it up this weekend due to work schedule.

Thanks guys, will definitely see what other options I have to be able to test it. This is my first boat, do you guys have any advise on launching and loading our type of boat? Just don't want to damage anything. Would like to keep everything in good condition. I'm sure everyone on here treats their scarab like their baby

The Yamaha factory water tests EVERY BOAT! You will find about an hour on the engine(s). So it is not going to be 0 hours. This is going to be up to you. A new boat won't have big issues, and the water test is more a demo and instructional period than it is a sea trial. But nonetheless, you want one. This is a solid couple of hours outside of their time to show you the boat. And you want to see it and verify that there are no codes in the YDIS, and get the hours. I found on my lake test on my 2 year old leftover, that it had just shy of 2 hours on it, and that it had hit 52 mph! This is on a boat that has not been broken in! They do that to all of them. It was actually the factory and the dealer. The factory water tested and then the dealer does the dealer prep and water tested it to make sure they didn't have any issues either. So I had about 1.7 hours. You may only find .7 hours or so but it will have been run to make sure the engines make power and the boat has no control issues. I can't imagine that Scarab doesn't do this.

I missed that this was posted in the Scarab forum. I think @txav8r missed that too. :)

I am here at the dealership and they have a pond where they test their jet skis and small boats. We put the 195 on their and did not feel any cavitation issues. Was not able put it on their river close by due to be over flowing.
