Replacing 13" tires with 14"

Also, FWIW, the set I purchased was less than $300 delivered to my door (trailertiresandwheels.com). I would have done this when I first purchased the boat if I knew how badly the bias ply tires would look when I took them off.

I think this is going to be my next purchase. It's about an hour to the closest two two lake I regularly go to and I just don't feel comfortable running on the interstate with bias-ply tires. I'm hoping it will help with the trailer bounce as well.

I need to take the bolt pattern measurements so I can start deciding which specific rims I want.

I think switching to Radials helped on the bounce with mine.

Your bolt pattern should be 5x4.5". I believe all 190 series trailers are the same. Someone else may be able to confirm this.

Mine is on a Galvanized Shorelander trailer and and already has 14" rims. While they area most likely 5x4.5, I need to measure them and be certain.

Odd, I have the galvanized Shorelandr trailer a my rim/tires are 13". I'd like to upgrade to 14" aluminum rim/tires at least.

That is odd. I guess they changed them for 2015. Always pinching those pennies.

@S6T6 My trailer had the same wheels as yours before I upgraded to 14" I believe all 190 series come standard with 13" tires and the 192 series come with 14". As I mentioned previously, I had to remove the fenders to get the larger wheels/tires on but they fit fine and do not rub with the fenders back on. Much better ride as well.

My trailer tires are supposed to be inflated to 60 psi. Everyone told me not to fill it that much that it will blow up. I spoke with the guy who sold me the tires and he informed me that I have a greater chance of a blowout under inflated , and to run the recommended pressure.

Same as @njmr2fan - mine are always inflated to the max pressure stated on the side wall - 65PSI in my case.
My understanding is that with both bias ply and radials proper inflation is critical in safe trailering. I was not happy with the bias ply, always run radials, but decided to leave these alone and so far no issues, nice even wear.

H2Oboy, I like the ones you picked up. The 5x4.5" bolt pattern is the correct size right? Did they come shipped with the tires installed for $300?

They did. I payed a little extra to have them balanced so they arrived ready to bolt on. I believe I received them in 2-3 days after I placed the order. And yes, the 5x4.5" pattern is correct.

Cool. I finally got a chance to look the website and there's plenty to choose from. Prices seem good too. I wonder if the 15" rims/tires would fit on the 190SX trailer with shimmed fenders?

I think that would be stretching it a bit. If you look at mine you can see how close the fender is to the tire. It could really use some shim itself. I would look at the overall diameter of the 15" and measure out on your trailer before ordering.

Your probably right and 15's aren't really needed for the minimal weight of the 190SX. They'd look cool though :D

Since this is more of the wife's toy I might surprise her for Christmas with a new set.

What are the thoughts on using a 5" wide tire instead of the factory 4.5".
in the 13x4.5" sized there is just nothing worth getting :)
