I've scanned through the numerous threads about mounting a transducer to the ride plate. It seems feasible for twin engine boats where there's a central portion of ride plate that receives clean water. What I don't understand is how this could possibly work on a 190/195 where the entirety of the ride plate sits directly behind the intake.

For those who have gone this route SPECIFICALLY on a 190/195, does it work at speed? Does the boat handle differently than it did pre-install?

I ordered a RyTek flush mount kit (link below) and *intend* to mound the ducer to the ride plate but I'm struggling to get past how bone-headed this seems. Looking for success stories.
Mount: RTG8056 Garmin GT56 Flush Mount Kit

My current setup is a shoot-thru ducer but it lacks detail, especially in deep water, and occasionally loses signal at speed. I ordered a GT56 and want to nail the install for both trolling and ripping around the shallows.

I guess you could do it on the ride plate, or you could do it like I did. My setup reads at speed (depth, temp), sidescan has to be below 20mph, but its good enough for me. There are people here that have done it. 1779968553224.png

I did a ride plate mount on my AR190 using some stock aluminum, and it works great.

The benefit of this is that there's no additional through-hull required.

This year I want to tackle a trolling motor mount. I believe that could totally change the game for most of my activities.
