Rope sucked up now terrible cavitation

Don't worry, there are two types out here, I believe. Those who have sucked up a rope, and those who are going to suck up a rope. I've done it twice in 14 years. Both times my fault. Failed to instruct accordingly. Just make sure you have a nice, sharp carpet cutting knife to cut that sucker out! (Kind of like motorcycle riders - those who have wrecked, and those who are going to have a wreck.)

I'm thinking your boat doesn't have the screw on plugs. If not, I would recommend EZ locks.
It has the button and lock plunger type was not easy to get seated down in there at all. The old guy I bought the boat from told me to never take it out cause it was a pita to get back in and he had to have the dealer do it for him once.

Take it from me and the others. I've had the same issue you're describing and everyone's suggestions are spot on. The clean out plug is no joke though. I'll never go out again without EZ Locks. If you find that your plugs came loose, then you're lucky because the problem could have been a lot worse. Even if you pull on them as hard as you can and they don't come out, they can and eventually will under extreme pressure. Also, the person you bought it from gave you bad advice. You do need to take them out and with a little maintenance, they go right back in every time. I just use water to lubricate mine. Others use their own formula. Regardless, these things can ruin your day so please give this some thought.

And there is the problem....... You need to take these out after every outing so they do not seize in the tunnel. They make rebuilds kit for them and I would suggest getting one if your plug is that hard to put in. On my 2000 XR1800 and my 2008 Ar230 the plugs were very easy to put on. I did install locks on both boats as well. My current boat has the better twist lock plug system.

Yeah, that's unfortunate. May need to get those rebuild kits.
I take them out all the time, and use 303 AP to keep the seals soft.

If you decide to invest in EZ locks, which are like $15, here is a refresher, those work fantastic but easy to mess up the install (if you are an idiot like myslef), lol.
Here is the EZ locks refresher.

One more thing about EZ locks. Those really ARE easy, and I'm pretty sure I am the first person on the planet who managed to goof up with the install... But just for the record -- here is what I've learned.

1. Watch the @Cobra Jet Steering LLC video clip

2. Drill close to the top -- see the pictures below -- I goofed up on the right, the left is the correct location of the hole.

When installed in the correct location (left in the pic), the locks do not "lock" when the plug is "open".
I know... it is obvious. But I still managed to drill the first hole too low... Before I realized my mistake.

This is what you want to see when the plug is open:

That is good news! But go buy some EZ-Locks for that boat before you have a really bad day.

So with my new 2020 SX 190 (which I haven't picked up yet) should I get this easy lock system or are my plugs different because its newer?

Your plugs are different

No, you don't have the "dogs" or tabs that hold them in, your plug is a screw-in type.
