Ruling on Deflategate...

The four game suspension for Brady was, IMHO, a punishment meted out knowing it would be overturned in arbitration but allowing the league to save face as it demonstrated they had "done something."
Now, I don't claim to be conversant in details of the NFL's CBA (and don't want to be), but any decent labor lawyer would have a field day with the NFL's case on this one.

Whether the league can fine a team $1M and take draft choices over something like this...maybe they can. Again, don't know and don't really care. The reality is, however, that $1M is real money even to a billionaire... This invites litigation, which I am sure the league does not want... In the unlikely event it ever got to open court, lots of dirty league laundry would become public record. So, the Pats' ownership has a ton of leverage here.

Excellent work, Roger. /sarcasm

PS: I have no dog in the pro-con about "deflategate," the Pats' behavior, Brady, etc. hunt. I really don't like the league "leadership" - specifically Roger Goodell - and make no qualms about saying so.

Patriots will not appeal fine and draft picks...is this an acceptance of guilt? Waving the white flag?

Now all eyes are solely on Tom Brady.

Tampering with footballs is a $20 k fine, Not a 1/4 of the season suspension. This is complete BS but its on the heels of major fuggups by the league so they had to send a message to look like they appear to be in control, ha

I expect it is an acceptance of a back door deal with the league.

Some people say I am paranoid. Of course, it's not paranoia if they really are after you. ;)

To me, this says that the league has a lot more details than we know and the Pats don't want to look worse than they do now if they fight and the details roll out.

And I really didn't think this topic would go 4 pages long either!

It has been interesting. Most everyone believes something should have happen to Brady and/or the Pats. With the exception of course being the Patriots fans. I would also believe that those same fams where like "damn, not again!"
