Hello everyone 2nd time out on my new 2017 scarab 195 open running ruff chop back to icw when low oil pressure light came on and popped right off slowed to idle waited 5 min and carried on .was fine for 3o min then it came on again and right off .cant find anything online about this boat (very little) regreting scarab big time love the boat but i like to learn about what i own and it seams impossible anyone experience issue with low oil pressure thanks in advance

The obvious question, did you check the oil level via the dip stick while the boat was levelled? Ensure to run the engine a bit, say 30 sec. Then give it a few sec to settle and check the oil level. Where is it sitting on the dip stick?

I did before i launched it was correct

Second obvious question: when was the last time the filter was changed? Never known one of them to 'clog', but I suppose it is possible, if the oil is very old...

Assuming that the first and second obvious questions are addressed, seems like it would either be an oil pressure sensor or an oil pump issue.

I guess the second ? would be should the light stay on or go right out like it did
The manual that came with the boat is a joke at best and generic, and doesnt even explain limpmode or how to use the docking feature or really anything.was hoping it was a glich from the ruff chop since it didnt stay on should warning lights stay on for more than a second. What would you do 50 mile trip to dealer or run it easy if oil level fine and see if happens again dont want to ruin a Specialty engine i cant find any info On thanks

The fact that the light went on and then goes off tells me there is a momentary loss of oil pressure detected. Which may be that the electrical connection to the oil pressure sensor has a fault (corrosion, loose connection, etc.), that the pressure sensor is faulty (going over a good bump causes it to trigger), or that you are actually losing oil pressure (like from a blockage, bad oil pump, oil level just getting low, etc.). The first two are much more likely I would think if there is just a blink like that... but it pays to rule out the easy ones on the oil pressure drop before considering the pump or something more serious.

So, next I would start checking out the oil pressure sensor and its connections. Of course, I have no idea where that is on your boat... so I am of limited help.

Did you ever find the fix for this?

i have a 155 4-tec that developed a loose wire on the connector that attaches to the oil pressure sender... bit of contact cleaner and a dab of RTV was my temp repair till in can order and new pin and connector (same kind of symptoms...)

Hopefully he comes back with a response. But do you have a similar problem? Worth detailing your issue.
Yes, same symptoms. Oil pressure alarm randomly starts screaming at me. New filter, plenty of oil. Do any of you know the correct part number for the sensor? I have a 2014 Scarab 195 HO Impulse.

Ok thanks, I'll try to use the contact cleaner.
