Looking into getting my 215's windows tinted and called around to a couple of places and both are telling me they will need to remove the glass to do the windows. This seems crazy to me as I've never seen this done on a car and the curves / access to the windows seems no harder than the rear window of most cars. Anybody have any insight on this; did you have to have the glass removed? Know a place near Madison, WI that will do it without the windows being removed?

I had mine done and they never removed the glass. Took them a couple hours because of the curvature of the glass but turned out great.

I'm about to have this done. I work in a car dealership and have our tinters coming to do it. They said they have done boats before so not worried. They will not be taking anything apart.

I thought that the Scarabs had automotive style wind shields, and removing the glass would be a no go. At least compared to the more classic frame-over-glass type. Anyways, there's a place in Middleton, west side of the beltline that I drive by often. They look like they do some nice work, don't know if they do boats or not.

I had mine done as well without removing the glass

If you guys don't mind me asking: how much is that costing you? Do you leave the boat in a place? (I'm not too crazy about it)
What's the least you can go to still get the tinted look? Smaller %, like 5%, is darker, right?

I tinted the windows on a 230 sx that I used to have for under $50 and 6 to 8 hours of my time. Didn't remove the glass.

I took my 242ls to an auto tinter for $400, he removed the windows with my permission to better manipulate the glass and tint them indoors without wind. He took out the windows and didn't tighten the screws very well prior to reinstalling it all so the center window frame vibrated and gouged the gelcoat

Like I said before the people I have tinting it, work for our dealership. I send a lot of business there way. There not charging me, but I'm thinking I'll throw them 100.

Here's mine with the tinted windshield. Went 30%. $200 to do it. Guy came to my house and did the oat on the trailer. Did not have to remove the glass.image.jpg
