Seasons, Winterizing, Usage

@Canuckjetboater I also am a non-antifreeze member. (Except ballast system) I have stored my boat in unheated buildings for the past 11 years with no problem. What portions of the engines are made of iron that would rust? Is the block cast iron? Willing to change but right now I don't see the need.

Unfortunately for me, I'll be storing my new boat outside all winter in Minnesota. :( Anyone have any advice for me? Unfortunately there's no portable car port tall/long enough to fit an AR210, so it's going to get rained/snowed on. I was thinking of using the shipping cover and getting it shrink wrapped on top of that.

Do they have county fairs in Minnesota? Maybe you can store in a barn for the winter?

Just move to East NC and boat almost year round with me! ???
I live in Charlotte NC. It gets chilly in dec Jan and February but there are always a few nice weekends mixed in there

@Epsmith19 That is awesome. Here, when it is over, its over.

Indeed here too, but we love to take the boat to the island and have bonfires and camp in the winter.

@buckbuck ......Yamaha engines are mixed metals? Aluminum heads - steel spark plugs many other combinations like ss parts. These dissimilar metals are what cause corrosion in the presence of moisture. Problems created by internal corrosion may not manifest themselves as such but nevertheless be damaging. At one point I weighed the benefits of a-freeze versus the environmental concerns but for the last 8 years or so environmentally neutral a-freezes are common. To me running some a-freeze through our engines (a quick, simple and inexpensive task) is just cheap insurance. My question is why wouldn't I do it.

My old boat, I was quoted around $14/foot to shrink wrap, for not much more I keep it in a garage all winter. Call around (outside of PL/metro) and I bet you find a decent price for indoor storage.
