Should my shipping cover be included with the purchase? The dealer is acting like it’s not normal?

My dealer included mine like it was no big deal. We didn't have to negotiate for it or anything. He even told us it should last a couple of years if taken care of.

Thanks, I’ll call them tomorrow and see what the deal is. I think they want them for there warehouse operation. I bought the new storage cover but would like the shipping cover too.

Shipping covers are great for trailering, long distance. A premium cover (mooring) can scuff gelcoat, especially around the bow. Some use masking tape - under the strap - for long hauls. (Not needed with shipping cover)

Our boat came with the shipping cover and the dealer said it was included. We bought the heavy duty cover also, so have both

Shipping Cover is absolutely included, it's even on the list of features if you go to the 'compare boats' section of yamaha's website. Some people will call their dealers to buy shipping covers that buyers didn't want (for instance, I'd love one of the 2018 242 covers to have as a backup, covers more of the boat).

We bought the Yamaha deluxe premium tower towing/mooring cover and really like it. It goes on easily when on a trailer and I can easily access the cleats and fuel fill with it in place. I have installed by myself in high winds without too much trouble. I found it difficult to use as a mooring cover and may add the bow and cockpit covers for use in a slip. We've towed several thousand miles with it and it has held up well.

Food for thought, Yamaha does not sell the shipping covers on a stand alone basis. Also, if you are going to use it as an oudoor storage cover it may last two off seasons of temperature cycling. Once the outer plastic starts to crack the inner liner acts like a sponge and it’s not long after the next rain before mold starts to develop and spread. Online they sell for up to $300 with the non telescoping poles for the anti pooling kits, which is about half the cost of a standard mooring cover.

"Premium" mooring covers are $800+ at cost (for 2015+ 240s). Charcoal black or grey, same price for Premium.
Dealers will often have extra "shipping" covers laying around, I bought one in the past and was quoted another last year for $150 or $120, something like that.
Those shipping covers are great for long hauls which also saves "premium" cover's life.

My shipping cover came with the boat. Show them this thread and call them out for being greedy jerks. They have no use for it because every new boat comes with one on it from the factory.

No, I’ll keep both and swap them out once in a while or just use for trailering.

The dealer gave us ours without hesitation and used it after we winterized our boat for the season. We have the mooring cover under it as well.

    Maybe they changed their policy?
I've assumed those shipping covers came with the boats but I never checked if those are listed as OEM parts.
