I’ve been noticing a small puddle of brake fluid underneath the trailer hitch master cylinder on my Shorelandr trailer that came with my FSH. Has anyone else had this problem and if so any ideas on a fix. Thanks

I realize this is a really old post, but did you ever find the culprit? I didn't notice the drip as it's parked on grass, but I opened up the cap and it was bone dry.

Yes. It was leaking from the master cylinder assembly where the pushrod enters. Looks to me that whoever filled the brake fluid reservoir (factory or dealer) over filled and brake fluid ran down and corroded the parts. No other reason since this never comes in contact with the water when the trailer is backed in. I contacted UFP and they would not cover under warranty. They did sell me a whole new surge brake assembly for $150 which is a decent price. You can also rebuild the assembly as well.

HI, when you say you contacted 'UFP', who are you contacting? Is it Dexter Axle?

I'm getting my 2016 Shorelander trailer brake system rebuilt by local trailer shop and then I plan to maintain/repair it after. Doesn't look too complicated but still trying to figure out where the 'factory' parts are coming from. The master cylinder and piston that activates it looks like a weak link in the system that will need periodic replacing. Trailer shop wanted to replace the whole surge/actuator assembly vs just the cylinder which is fine (I'm sure its easier for them and I wanted to start new anyway) but down the road I may want to do that. Thanks for the info.

The contact I used was,

warrantyTN@dexteraxle.com

Below pics are what I originally sent to them. Hope it helps.

Also, just be aware that I'm now rebuilding the calipers due to completely rusted/frozen pistons and delaminated brake pads. Fun times!
