Its been a long winter up here, but I can see my boating waters opening up from my view at the house.20180407_112743.jpg We are in full Maple season now, but shortly we will be coming down off Hardscrabble Mtn. and spending a lot of time on the water with 2 boats at the marina on slips. I have been in the Mountain man camp since we pulled the boat in October. Being a "Sugarman" I spend most of my time in the woods hugging maple trees, but the Jetboater me will not be allowed any more than stubble, at least that is what i have been told by my first mate of 27 yrs. She does not want me looking like Greybeard the pirate at the marina. So here is mine before it comes off for the summer. I know I have caught glimpses of others on this site. Lets see them.20180407_103253.jpg

I'll get in on this. I've been "going to shave" for the past 6 months.

@F.M. Nice, way too much time invested in that one to shave off. You must have used a "selfie stick" to get all that in one pic.;)

I'm a few months shy of 2 years. And I just happen to have long arms.

I grow a beard like a 13 year old.

Ditto. I shave on Sunday morning before heading to church. I usually end up with "5-o'clock shadow" sometime around Wednesday before bed.

The problem for me is that shaving is not "in my routine" normally (if I don't do something EVERY day, it gets forgotten - and I sure don't need to do it every day). Then when we DO go somewhere nice, I tend to look a little scruffy because I usually forget to shave.

On a somewhat related note: I read that allergy sufferers should try to grow a beard because it acts as a filter. A portion of the stuff gets caught in your beard instead of getting inhaled.

Not sure how much truth there is to this but it's something to talk about since it's still only 27 degrees outside.

@biglar155 I don't know about the filter effect, mine is not long enough, but it does act as a face warmer and brush guard. Easier on the skin when you get whipped in the face by a branch. When really cold and I am working out in the woods, icicles will form on it instead of my skin.

Here is one I had in 1995 before it went grey taken at sunshine speedway, 1995 top cop chiefs stock car race accepting the trophies for first place. accepting trophy for first place in the 1995 top cop chiefs race 001.jpg accepting trophy for first place in the 1995 top cop chiefs race 001.jpg

What track is that? I used to frequent Orlando speedworld in the late 80's when I lived near UCF.

I added the info to the picture to be 43 again haaaa . I know one thing that fire suit won't fit any more. I still have the light bar off my car I built that car from the ground up out of several in a junk yard .

I loved picking around Fla. junk yards, just watch out for snakes. Spent many hours looking for parts for my 79 Jetta and a few for my 83 GTI in the yards on rt. 50 east towards Bithlo.

And German shepherds, I was in one junk yard and they forgot to put the dog away, damn thing had me up against a big tractor tire ripping into my right boot, the guy there was beating on the dog but it would not release my leg so I pulled out my S & W chiefs special ended the issue.
The guy looked like grisly Adams and when he could not get the dog off me I really had no choice, chewed right through my combat boots. Next morning some smart guy had a target on my locker with a picture of lassie on it.
As for snakes if you leave them alone They usually do the same for you with the exception of pigmy rattlers, so I do watch for those rascals but I traipse all through the mangrove marshes with spiders all over the place snakes , red ants, coyotes that will jump out and startle you as they run away. I just hate the mosquitos .

Well, I really thought there would be some funny response of someone "strapping one on", and no I don't mean the danglies.
