Sub rheostat

I was reading Julian's thread about his boat. One item he mentioned was hooking up a sub woofer volume control. Anyone add a rheostat for just the sub? I guess it wasn't a sub woofer volume control on Julian's boat but a control to the amp for the sub. I'm looking for a way to control the sub volume without adding an EQ. Or can someone recommend an inexpensive EQ?

I saw that, but I didn't feel like spending $289 for it. At least thats what I saw it selling for. Thanks for the info.

I had one of these in my car when I was in college. It worked well and never started on fire (good thing) however, I guarantee it isn't waterproof or rated for a marine environment. But, it's cheap if you are feeling lucky.

The one that OCPat mention is the exact one I use. I have one for the subs and 1 for the towers.
