Surge Brake Questions

Watchout for the metal lever that holds and releases the plunger rod. When you back up to the trailer and go too far, the trailerball bends the release tab. Then the plunger wont move in and out properly. I investigated mine last year and found it had been bent bad when i first got the boat. The function is that the breakaway cable pulls the brake plunger in and the metal tab traps it. When bent, the tab doesn't trap or release the plunger properly. I had to take mine all apart to fully understand how it works. If you hammer the bent tab back the tip will break off, but this is fine as you can still reset it with a screwdriver and it can't get bent again. Cam
