For me and our boats, I need a hitch or a knot to secure fenders and the boat. A cleat hitch is so easy to learn. And flemishing the bitter end just makes sense. I can't trust a line jamb device to hold my fenders on the boat, there is just too much movement, at times, that may release the fenders. They are not cheap to replace when they float away, not to mention any damage to the topsides. So I will always tie a proper cleat hitch on a cleat and I always tie clove hitches to secure my fender whips on the tower on the Yamaha and lifelines on the Beneteau. IDK, call me old fashion, but I like knots.
