I am trying to find the reason why I feel a shudder once I go past the fist click and reverse bucket is barely past 1/4 Throttle.

I get a vibration that goes away once I throttle up and more of the bucket is more in the up position.
Does anyone else feel a shudder in the throttle handle as you throttle forward slowly?

Thanks.

Btw the way the milky oil has been resolved as 4th water test went great. Went past a home that burned in Stiltsville. Its a shame as rebuilding is not allowed.

Other than trash, two things come to mind. 1. Intermediate bearing and 2. Loose tolerances/clearance on the reverse bucket hardware. Hard to diagnose when I am imagining the scenario from 1400 miles away.

Did you check to see if you have something around the impeller shaft?

All clear

I would agree with #2.

I have been playing with slotted screw at the base of throttle. It seems turning in makes it better but increases resistance to move throttle forward and back.
There are two other adjustments on top of throttle base than has locking nut.
Maybe reduce how far lever can move forward.

PO may of messed with it as no cables are/were OEM.

My '17 AR190 does this. Agitates the dammit out of me. You can't have it at just low idle. It will shudder the throttle enough that it will drop back to the first click above neutral. I'm like 99.99% certain it's looseness in the hardware that attached the cable to the bucket. That combined with highly turbulent water coming out of the jet, and it not being immediately swept away, leads to the bucket "shuddering".

I've considered custom machining bushings, and moving to precision shoulder bolts and things of that nature.......But haven't had the time or motivation to do that just yet.

If you’re referring to low speeds like in the 2nd detent range of TDE on the throttle then yes mine would do that as well.m or you could at least feel it. Mine was because it just happens to be the very edge of the bucket in relation to the jet thrust. You can try to adjust the bucket to help.

Have you pulled the pumps? I would. First, you may find hidden trash. Second, you can get a better look at bearings and the impellers (which--it could also be an out of balance impeller, like a really big nick out of a blade, etc.--and it may just show up at a certain harmonic).

Mine doesn't just kick back, it will literally "jiggle" front to back a few times before it pops out and heads back to TDE / 1st detent. I'll have to get a video this spring.

Mine would do that a few times too.

Ok if the throttle handle itself is vibrating your reverse bucket is not opening enough and the jet thrust is striking it, adjust the bucket and it will solve the problem
