Time to get a bigger boat!

Nice! I think those base are 7200, and generation or two it like under 6000..... blows my mind lol
Agreed! They are making these things with 4cyl now! No way I’m buying a full size truck with a 4 banger

July or August of this year or 2022? Are they making the 2022 ones already? Congrats!

He said this year.

I started out pulling my 242 with a 17’ Tahoe with 5.3 and a 07 Ford fx4 pick-up with a 5.4. Either would get it there but both were working hard. I didnt have much confidence that if and when something went wrong ie blow-out, accident, being cut off, that I’d have adequate control over the load. This boat sits high on the trailer and with the tower, it’s over 11’ high. The wind drag is like pulling a large camper if you travel any highways. IMO you can’t just rely on tow weight ratings.
My plan was to get a Chevy 4x4 with the 6.2. They didn’t have what I wanted and one day I ran across a low mileage used 17’ f250 4x4 with the diesel for less than the Chevy would be. I’ve never been brand loyal, or diesel guy, but a 3/4 ton diesel is a freakin monster compared to any 1/2 ton truck. When someone says “you don’t even know it’s back there” .....they’re exaggerating, but not by much. It’s a night and day difference.

Now on the other hand, I have a work truck also and don’t have to drive the tow vehicle everyday, if I did, I’d would probably have stuck with the original plan with the Chevy 6.2.
