Tropical storm / Hurricane Harvey

Water has dropped near my cousin's apartment. She still has power. Her car likely a total loss, but she now has access to it.

here's one I'm either not smart enough to understand or don't get paid enough to,

This dam is about 20 miles up stream from my mom's house, it was 6" below normal level a week ago, they for some reason chose not to release any additional water before the storm arrived but now that the poop is in the fan they'll open the gates more with all the ground water saturation down stream, sorry folks, here it comes,

why a week ago or even days ago when we knew it was going to hit they didn't start releasing water from all the dams in these lakes I don't understand,

go figure,

Here's a Yamaha boat doing flood relief for Hurricane Harvey. Spoke with the operator and he said it was tough without thrust vectors and articulating keel, but no issues with the water depth. For perspective, here's the Google Maps view of that same address. There is a bridge just a bit north of this location which crosses Spring Creek. The creek is normally ~15 feet below the bridge, I would estimate.

@WilCo, I recently moved from that area (Auburn Lakes Estates), and I see that you have the same zip code that I used to have. I drove past the spot in your pic daily for the past 5 years. It looks like your pic is from the overflow ditch area alongside Gosling as you approach the bridge that goes over Spring Creek. When it's not raining, that overflow area is dry, and I would estimate that the bridge is an easy 50 feet above the normal creek level. I assume that the bridge flooded out like it did in the 2014 flood. During the 2014 flood we had 1 of 4 roads open (West Rayford/Kuykendahl) to get to/from our house, and the water (from Willow Creek) was probably a foot and a half (elevation) from getting into our house. It was a close call, and I've never felt so helpless in my life. I was tempted to pump up the Zodiac that I had stored above my garage. My neighbor said that this time, they were locked-in road-wise, but the water level peaked 3" short of flooding his house. Close call.

Thankfully we are still dry, biggest concern is the release of the reservoirs, this has me very concerned as the water is now 2 blocks away from our home.
Is hard to just leave as looters have gotten out of hand, and waiting for people to their homes....

Pictures below are less then 3/4 mile away from my house. And second picture is the main entrance to my subdivision, Hope we stay dry.......

Now as far as the boat, got a call from storage facility on Monday afternoon letting me know that all units took a minimum of 5ft of water, and we could not access the facility till further notice..... :(
