Unsure about recent install of Cobra Jet Ultimate Fins and Fangs..

I was wondering the same thing about the anode...

Distinct from that, I wonder about speed, don't think I've used my boat much going at speeds that give you trouble. Sounds like it would be around 10mph, which is too fast for no wake and too slow to be on plane. Unless wake surfing, I don't know why anyone would. Wonder if that is why no one has reported this phenomenon (of heavy steering at those speeds) before.
Gosh, I wish I could go out and do some testing... if only my boat didn't sell in a day. I do not think I can mentally extrapolate to how the steering felt driving 10mph.

Here you go (I couldn't resist):

I don't always drive 10 mph. But when I do, I don't pay attention to steering. :D

The anodes are nowhere near the stream or the nozzles..How would that cause a problem? I had the anodes before I had the Ultimate fins. Steering effort was much easier prior to the install. When I got the boat, your original version was installed, and there was no issue at that time.. . The bolts were over tightened on the steering linkage when I got the boat. They are free though..just distorted. The steering turns freely when I'm idling . The nozzles are perfectly aligned, btw. I will spread apart that steering joint a little.

Please take them off and let me know if it solves the problem those are in the water and directing the water at the fangs until you get on plane so that would explain the issue before the boat planes off and why it goes away once you are on plane, the steering fins would not be effected by those but the fangs are quite close to them .

Before your installation, could you turn the wheel with one finger?
You should be able to turn the nozzles by grabbing them and moving them side to side.

I see that you have a 2007, there's a great possibility you need new steering cables. They get old and rusty and will cause major resistance in the wheel.
They are new. I can move the nozzles easily..

I really would like to solve your issue and I honestly think the big anodes are causing a hydraulic wave that is interfering with the fangs.
I had a customer with an issue on a single engine model where a large transducer was causing a problem with them and once it was relocated the issue went away..
I can see the anode causing a similar wave when it is in the water and relocating it may be the answer . So if you pull them off for just a day and try it that way just to eliminate them if nothing else.
Here is a post that was just put on the fangs first impression thread and this is how they were intended to work on your boat so all we need to do is figure out what the issue is.

I ordered my Fangs a while back and never got around to installing them, until this past week. If you don't have them, you are missing out. This is the best innovation to these boats since Jeff first developed steering fins! I cant say enough about them. You can literally take your hands off the wheel, and go in a straight line, while drinking a bee....er a soda. My girlfriend can drive the boat effortlessly, now. This is my 4th Yamaha boat, all have had Cobra fins on them, and I have no experience with any other brand of fins, so I have nothing negative to say about any of the others, but I will always stick with Jeff's Cobra Steering. He is truly an innovator!

Ok, I will try it Jeff.
