I thought I’d start a new thread dedicated to the Wake Booster.
Hopefully all the new info coming in can be put on this thread making it easier to learn about it.

Someone mentioned the idea of using the WakeBooster and the Wake Wedge at the same time and what the wave would look like. As far as I can tell, this would be impossible based on the way the Wake Wedge currently mounts. There would have to be a complete redesign of the wedge to make this work. Maybe @jcyamaharider can chime in on whether he thinks that it would even be worth trying.

It is not an entirely novel idea, as Scarab has experimented/released something similar they call Surf Stream - device that makes water deflecting jet streams (shooting from under/side of the hull/stern). Not sure it would work with the Gatlin Wedge, install/mounting issues notwithstanding.

I would think we need to see this thingy in action!!!
The Scarab device received mixed reviews, and I'm not sure what the Wake Booster will show - when tested in the wild.

I would think it has potential!

Definitely see some potential here. Redirecting the water may indeed help with jetwash, but also adds some water volume that could increase the wave size. As someone mentioned in another thread, the additional drag would require you to compensate by steering in the opposite direction slightly, which points the nozzles away from the wave, so goodness there as well. Depending on the angle of the vertical portion, it may even create a bit of downward force, almost like miniature Wedge or Switchblade. Sheez, for $1K including a slingshot board and rope, I might just take a flyer on it.

This wake booster is only sold when you buy an X boat. It cannot be purchased seperatly.

I saw that too it’s available as a package to purchase it doesn’t come it any boat I understood it. It’s also up to the dealer how many they purchase and when they run out that’s it for the year. Sounded like wouldn’t be available until like February

Guess I didn't see that.

The confusion is that the booster/board/rope are going to be sold as a package and not for individual sale. You can't just buy the booster, but you can buy the package without buying a new boat.

  1. Man comparing waves pics , the wake wedge definately has a cleaner wave then the WakeBooster top pic WakeBooster , bottom pic wake wedge , and with the wedge you can put it on at the ramp and leave it on all day with no ill effects from running wide open to surf speed , I don’t think you can with the booster , I don’t know , just my opinion

Not to get in a pissing match about which is better wake wedge or the new wake booster I think they both probably have a place... I personally think the swim platform bag you guys made is the best I don’t have a wedge or booster and my wave is nice and clean as well and I’m taking the pic from the wrong side of the boat. I’m sure both products will work great I’m just thinking the transom bag makes the most improvement for my boat anyways

$999 is a nice price for a rope, board and shaper. Just wished it would fit my 2012.

Has anyone actually seen it? The Google machine can't find me a pic. I don't see anything on Yamaha's site either, just the advertisement for the package.

I think it shows some potential. The delayed convergence wake is all the rage on new tow boats. It doesn’t seem to work on a jet boat. This looks like it takes water from under the boat and moves it into the jet stream making a reverse diverging wake and washing out some of the nozzle spray. It’s priced lower than the other wedge when you factor in a board and rope come with it. I just want a wake good enough to make my wife, kid and friends love surfing enough that she will let me get the x24 or G25. Hahaa

Looks very one sided - as in this won't work if you like to ride the other side of the wake.

Thanks. I guess I do see it mounted on both sides in the pics further up the thread. Is the video above with the Wake Booster?
