We use a small Danforth with several feet of chain - never had an issue as long as I have a bit of room to pull it into the sand/mud/weeds.

Just bought a new ar195 as well. Would anyone be able to provide an amazon link for an anchor that will fit in the factory mounts in the bow?

I used a Fortress G5 and it fits. I want to switch to a Mantus but don’t think it’s fits.

Fortress FX7 will hold your boat It holds my 21 in strong currents in sand and muck. I got 6’ of stainless chain and 2 stainless Clevises I did put little zip ties through the Clevis to make sure they did not come undone. This rope is a little more but has the stainless eye so it should not rust and stain your boat. Remember 200’ of rope this is only good to anchor in 30’ of water.
most people never put out enough rope, and most times you do not have to. I get the anchor out and the chain laying on the bottom, then I tug it a few times to get the points to start to dig in, then about 4 to one and tie it to the eye on the bow to keep it low to the water so I’m not lifting on the anchor. Put the boat in reverse and set it with a good pull. If it is windy I let out more rope first.5FC02B1D-36E4-4FC3-A215-B0B4FE8F0708.pngTC50FC275-2362-495B-A170-757A1DAA8952.png2982DFDA-9400-4B28-A270-F8832D455FA1.png

Box Anchor, drop it and forget it. No more embarrassing moments with boat slipping away and getting closer to other anchored fellow boaters.

Same anchor, similar setup holds my 21' FSH just fine (freshwater)... and sooooo much lighter/fits the OE location without modification.

FX7 does not fit in the AR195 unfortunately. At least the 2018 AR195.

Thanks for the info everyone. I’ve never used a box anchor, but will look in to them. Is there one that folds and fits in the anchor compartment on a 195?

They all fold nice and flat, take minimal room, and come with a handy vinyl bag.

I guess all us FSH 210 guys use the Fortress FX-7 lol. I have about the same setup as @Liveto99. I use galvanized chain and shackles though, didn’t want to use stainless on my aluminum anchor (Not that galvanized is a ton better). Safety tip though, I shackle close to the flukes and zip tie at the top of the stem, that way I can break the tie and “back” the anchor out if I need to.

Smooth... PM me a pic of that? So as we don't clutter up this thread.

Because I have an aluminum Fortress that I don’t want to drill through rather than a galvanized Danforth. I have the ring that I can drop down with another rope and pull the anchor out backwards.

How did it work for you?
I had the same issues with the default danforth anchor. Couldn’t get it to hold no matter what I did. Even adding chain. Tried using 6-7x depth to lead as they recommended. Backing up to get it to catch.
This year I picked up a Chene and it’s like night day. It digs right in, doesn’t need a chain and only requires 2:1 lead. Also I can squeeze it into my anchor locker (also AR195).

Is this anchor still working for you? We mainly anchor in sandy/rocky sandbars with medium current. What is the model and where did you purchase? Appreciate any help you can provide.
