I used Goo Gone to remove some of the vinyl stickers on the swim deck area. THEN I used one of those green scrub pads to remove the remaining residue. It scuffed the gel coat pretty good. What can I use to minimize the damage?42BCFBF5-750E-40EB-8C00-19F7A942154F.jpeg5BFA4E19-CAFE-4A96-A32A-6A104EC0612A.jpegF211C2AE-0C85-49BD-B8C7-EA3BF0BD096C.jpeg268AA4E3-3C54-4FA3-B6C3-E03B505A2931.jpeg

Why would you put that abrasive pad on the gel coat????!!! Hindsight now...sure but man that is like running razor blades over a fresh paint job on your car.

Don't worry. Those can likely be buffed back out. May even have to do some wet sanding but it will come out so long as you don't feel any grooves with your fingernail.

FYI to remove stickers use a heat gun, rubber eraser wheel, goo gone and believe it or not.....CARNUBA WAX and good ole elbow grease once you have the sticker removed. This is how we always did it back in my detailing lifetime.

Thanks! It looks like I am going to try some wet sanding. (Temporary lapse in judgement: The holidays can make you do crazy things sometimes.)
Also, I have ordered a heat gun now. Which rubber erase wheel do you recommend?

Heat gun for the graphics and Marine formula for the residual adhesive. Fawcett Boat Supplies

I have used it many times with great results.

Edit: you said "try some wet sanding" If you have not done it...do it in a overlapping circular motion. start with 1000 grit finish with 2000 then use a buffer/pollisher.20170415_141627.jpg20170415_144558-1.jpg20170430_102323.jpg20170525_171756.jpg20190430_140806_1.jpg

We always used the smooth surface rubber erasers but in this video they have the one with grooves or notches in it. As you can see in this video it works wonders. Just be very careful as its rubber so 1) it gets hot and can burn you don't ask how I know lol and 2) be careful not to let it walk and be prepared t counter it's natural tendency to want to walk on you. You sure don't want to let it walk and cause further damage with the drill or compressor tool you may use.

I did the wet sanding and buffing... worked amazingly! I also used the rubber erase wheel for other stickers I wanted to remove... then used goo gone. Worked like its supposed to.398DA8BD-6DED-4EB8-8524-95B2434F9EB1.jpegF3ABDCC6-F5E2-4E99-963D-BACA3B014A6B.jpegD4F209B8-B39E-4A3D-85F5-81B29D14BD78.jpegBDF5E4DF-2909-42C8-8AD3-A9074901AE6B.jpegFA6248C7-40F5-4F61-8CCE-D69596F9F8A0.jpeg639FA529-7780-48AE-AAFB-83C98740030C.jpeg

LOL. Reminds me of a time many years ago when my idiot father took steel wool to buff something in the trunk lid of what was a pretty nice Lincoln Towne Car. WTF??? He never did fix it nor did he care. But he never changed the oil on his cars either. No wonder as a kid I thought I would never own a car because all they were, were problems. Glad I didn't follow in that guy's footsteps!
