The lake is only 9 miles from home. The boat is always ready. If we make a snap decision to go boating we can be on the lake in one hour. Boating is good from dawn to dusk so there's no rush. We usually leave home about 11am, return about 4pm. It takes about an hour to sort things out, cover the boat, and stow it. Easy-peasy.

We normally burn between 10 and 20 gallons of gas per trip. We can usually make three or even four trips to the lake between gas tank fills.

I get up at 4:00am every work day. So when we are at the lake house, getting up at 6:00am is sleeping in. If anyone else is up they are welcome to go out to the middle of the lake and watch the world start up. My grand daughter was amazed how everything came to life that early.
