Anyone figure out how to best use this space next to the port seat?

I am currently thinking about using it for a soft sided, vertically oriented, cooler.
Something like the RTIC 40 (if i wouldn't have to wait until end of July to get).

Find that this potentially really useful space, not being fully operationalized, frustrates me.

What I like about the cooler being there is that:
-It is not a tripping hazard
-It is easily accessible to the 'bartender' seat
-It is secured (assuming bungees are good enough)
-It is not in a closed compartment (better suited for loose stuff: bags/fenders/lines/cloths/...)

Need a long weekend to field test this theory but wondering if someone already has-

I don't have a pic handy, but we put a garbage can there using the web bungee to keep it tucked and secure to the side. there is still plenty of room to keep extra bag coolers under or just behind the port seat.
