Polk marine amp instructions state that you shouldn't ground to the battery.

Ground to the engine block?

Other
On boats you have to ground at the battery. Make sure your power and ground wires are the same size, and length to avoid noise interference, and keep them both away from your signal wires (RCAs) as best you can

Perfect! That's what I did then got a little worried when I read the instruction. I has the same length 0 gauge wire running to the batteries.
