Yamaha moving on from the MR1

I will say my SX210 will hit 48 on bad day and has seen 50. Not sure where you are seeing low 40's. I will say the HO motors have more oomph out of the hole compared to mine, having run many side to side with other HO 21's.
Mine sx210 will only run 38 mph maybe on a good day.[/QUOTE]

What is your altitude / max RPM?

620 feet and 8000 rpm, silicone is good on intakes

Getting 48-50 on a 210 is definitely the high end of the spectrum. Low 40s seems to be typical with 38 being on the very low end.

I do think the most recent hull design 210s has reported slower speeds than the pre 2011 AR/SX 210s.

I was out yesterday. Not overly smooth water, 6 people, 3/4 tank of gas, bimini up and was running about 42 ish on the speedo (not gps). Didn't have her all the way opened up either. Elevation about 215 ft.

I would guess your performance is an outlier on the upper end and not the norm. Not many people report 48-50 mph as top speed on the 210s. You also have an older style 210 which seems to have better top speeds than the more recent hulls.

and I agree completely with what I have seen reported. I can only report with what I am seeing. But that is only top end reporting and something I am not too concerned about. Back to the TR1 question, I think these motors will be fine for most people in these boats for towing sports and will come in at a better price point than the X and SS 21 footers.

Hopefully that's the case. If that's what is coming out this year that will likely be my next boat. I am in limbo right now waiting for my youngest to get a little older, and I was pretty bummed when I found out the line was dropped. The 21 foot size boats fits us great, and I don't want to pay for a lot of performance that my wife won't even let me use.

And there is the kicker: "The wife won't let me use." I feel your pain. I'm questioning my judgement right now while upgrading my stereo. Lol! I will say though, that mine did give me the go-ahead to buy the boat so I didn't have to do the whole ask for forgiveness thing. The boat came after she said no to the sports car and motorcycle, but I think I'm happier with the boat for where I live anyway. The things we give up for the women we love...

haha, the wife wont let me:bear:

We can hit 50 in our AR210 when going downhill ;)...top speed that I've seen consistently is around 43-44. But we are happy with that speed and rarely need to go that fast.
