Do Yamaha boats steer backwards in reverse? Just bought a new sx195 and it’s my first jet boat. Haven’t had it out yet but I know all jet boats I’ve seen steer backwards in reverse.

They do. But it's really slow to respond. Takes some practice

Yeah especially being used to stern drives

Also, minor steering corrections and keep it slow.

I may be wrong but I think the OP is asking if the reverse steering direction is opposite direction from standard prop boats. Like a jet ski does or some brp powered jet boats
Yamaha boats will turn in the same direction as prop boats, just are not as quick to respond.

Yes. My dad has a sea doo jet boat and to back right you turn the wheel to the left. Is that how the Yamaha is or is it like a car

if your backing up, the direction the top of the steering wheel is turned is the direction the stern of the boat will go.

They do not steer backward like the sea doo you turn the wheel just like your car

Good lol. I had a sea ray for 20 years and that would be confusing for a bit

Definitely opposite to the Seadoo boats, or at least the Sportster I just sold.
