Bimini 2015 - July 6th to 11th

Being in Salt water won't do anything to the boats when the boats are being used daily. Saltwater damage occurs when you stop using the boat and don't rinse out the saltwater.

In my opinion, there is no need to flush the motors with fresh water while they sit in the ocean. The salt damage comes when the saltwater evaporates and leaves the salt behind (which isn't going to happen while it is sitting in the water overnight). I could only see that if the boat was going to sit in saltwater for a week without being used or something like that (which I would not recommend anyways). Use it, or take it out.

My boat is a 2005 and used exclusively in salt water. On multiple occasions, it has spent up to a week in the water. It has no "damage"

I always get amused at the notion that boats will immediately get ruined when you put them in salt water.

my ocean cleansing process involves a cooler, a bucket/soap, and a day on the lake.......start with WOT runs all over the place........finish with a minor sub move,.....open cooler, crack beer...soap up inside.......repeat till suds are gone......prior to any ocean-ing...silicone spray everything..
leaving the aft buckles on the boat and plug out you can dip the trailer and partially fill the nether regions.......makes you look like a pro at the boat launch too....

My concern is dipping a painted trailer. I cant say I'd do that........you cant rinse the insides out well enough

Thats all the assurance I needed. With a little guidance on what to do daily (like rinse out,wipe down) I think my fears are alleviated.

I just had to replace my galvanized trailer because it rusted out from the inside due to the poor design. No way to rinse the saltwater out from inside the closed channels. Poor design.

I definitely would not recommend dunking a painted trailer unless you had the ability to go dunk it in freshwater immediately.

The 2nd attempt did seem slightly calmer seas.
That must be amazing to snorkel around thee with all the wrecks. We usually spend 1 week a year in Anguilla (by St. Marteen) or in Aruba, so we snorkel a bit, but it much better when you have a boat at your disposal to go everywhere at your own timeline.

What camera is everyone using for the vids? (I assume it's mostly Go pro) I have been looking to get the new Sony, and was looking for feedback if anyone has it. TY

Hi @eurocat, I'm happy to share. I have a Go pro Hero + LCD. I looked at the Sony, but the model that I looked at didn't have enough water proof ability to it. This is the best vacation I've ever taken, mostly because you can relax with respect to timelines and because there are lots of really nice jet boaters to hang with.

Found a new lake in NC last night. Its called "Bimini vicarious" it's exactly like Bimini....except for the water, trees, land, conditions, sun, waves, clarity, people, location, sunset, destinations, fish, wildlife...but other than that........
It did have a few beers on it like I imagine Bimini may be seeing......
