What do you do for a living?

Parts and service specialist for an Acura dealership.

I've got almost 18 in, and I also can't wait to retire, unfortunately I've got about 15 to go. BTW you live in our absolute favorite place to vacation, I'm very jealous. Hopefully when my kids are out on they're own they move away from ohio so I can convince my wife to move to Destin.

Good deal @Chris5105. I'm actaully going to shoot for 30 years for a better retirement. Hopefully you convince the wife and can move down here and enjoy the waters on your boat. That'd be great. Stay safe.

Ill be doing 20yrs and out here in NJ. 20yrs will get you 50% of final salary and full benefits for life. 25yrs will get you 66% with the benefits. 5 more years working for an 16% isn't worth it to me. Just find a cake retirement gig !!

I'm with you @geiger41 30 years here, from 20, is a good difference, so I'll try and stick it out. But after 25 years, I'll just need one bad day (as they say). Good luck to you.

I guess a good thing about my retirement is I will will retire with 80-90% of my salary when I'm 53-56 years old...Just depends when I decide to go.
What the hell do you do to get that type of percentage lol Are they taking any transfers !!

sheriff's deputy for 13 years (5 years tac team, 4 years k-9), now work in police admin at a small police agency. Mostly deal with admin and Alcoholic Beverage Control these days, and "hoping" to retire out in about 5 more years...providing I have another job waiting.

Telecommunications as a civilian for Army and Air Nat'l Guard units. Been doing it for roughly 5 years and love every minute of it.

I am the real cookie monster. ...lol
I own a Pepperidge Farm Cookie and Cracker Distributorship.

We have to have 25 yrs and be at least 48 yrs old. I won't have 25 though until I'm 52. I'll stay an extra 8 if DROP is still around.

I'm a police officer in Kansas City, KS. Our retirement is through the state. We get 2.5% for every year we are there. They just raised it to a max of 36 years for 90% I started when I was 21 so I'll be 53 with 32 year at 80%. So it just depends what is going on in my life at that time. I'll have 15 years of service this November. Almost halfway there :)

BTW, I have worked in patrol, street drug unit, traffic, and now the motorcycle unit. The motorcycle unit is by far the best yet.

Retired since 2008. I was in electronics, almost 35 years in the semiconductor industry. About 10 years in applications, 10 years in software engineering, 10 years as a program/project manager. I spent 3 years in Paris France. 33 years with the same company. I was mostly involved with testing, some Very Large Scale Integrated circuits like microprocessors, but I specialized in semiconductor memory chips.
That is my specialty now. Going on 16 years. This industry changes fast but is running up against some fundamental barriers.

Interesting how many fellow LEOs are on here. Great to see..This is my 5th year in narcotics. Biggest problem here are the meth labs. Stay safe..

What does 10-8 stand for in Tennessee? Here it's a burglary in progress.

Hopefully that's 8 years of DROP.
That, my friend is the question..not sure what I'm going to do but will decide when I'm close to the 25th year. Chief's job will be opening up about the same time and that would mean a raise in salary (top 3 year average) so I have to consult a financial person to see what would be a better move.
