I use a slide box anchor (small size). It holds my boat great! Almost too good as it can be a bear to loosen from the clay bottom sometimes :D. I love that it folds up to a small form factor making it easy to stow.

Mine is sitting on my garage floor atm, got to put it back in the boat.

Fun fact, they are made here locally, I could drive down and grab one off the show room floor lol.

@haknslash check this. The OJ 945 isn't the prop the makai came with even tho it's the prop you upgrade to. The engineers felt the cup was better suited on the 950 for heavier loads. It's a bit stiffer so slower hole shot but sustains top speeds at loads better, (hypothetically). Well my dealer felt the 950 was off spec from the factory after a test run yesterday. Today after lots.of research they decided the OJ was in fact better than the acme. Thing was the 950 has to be warrantied and that takes a few days. So they called to talk about a different plan. Taking a 945 off the Max they just got in. Since I thought we were getting that anyhow I said fuck yeah do it. Well she ran great this evening. They are cleaning her first thing tomorrow and we write them a check at noon. Then off for our official walk through and lake tutorial, which we will be filming. This has been such a crazy journey and I feel your a big reason I decided to take the plunge. Thanks for your well documented journey mate.

Please stop! lol
We just got back from Lake Powell pulling my yammie 1,600miles each way, if I as much as mention another road trip this season I'm gonna need a divorce lawyer!!!

(why do I live in STL...?)
(well, we do have the Arch)

--
That's a haul. I bet Powell was awesome!! You put in at Antelope?? I thought my 6 hour haul one way for just a weekend trip was rough. It was little brothers bachelor party. The guys were all pretty floored when I showed up with the boat. They were thinking it was going to be a 20yo I/O.

Arcadyus, I will send you a PM on the info for Desert Aire/Mattawa

Also this is my new hitch and lock.

So the lock I was not going to buy and didn't. Reason was I wanted to be able to store the cables in the lock. So the owner said she was curious also and sent me one for free to test. If it works I pay for it. If not I sent it back. Pretty rad

Wow so that's what you meant by prop issue on the Moomba forum. I wasn't sure if you meant someone dinged it while loaded it after the lake test and didn't realize until it got to your dealer. That's really interesting they decided to play around with the other prop vs what they spec on the build but things can and do change mid run on these things I guess lol. I'm glad your dealer stepped in and made the changes if he felt the boat didn't feel quite right. I still need to get a spare prop for mine but that will be after upgrading some ballast and lead. Probably not best idea but whatever lol. So far I've really like the OJ 945 on my 400 and it will pull hard like a freight train from the hole to the top! Your boat is a bit heavier though but see how you like it with the lead and go from there. I'm sure there are some good threads or people to find what prop worked for them on their dialed in Makai's. Glad my journey helped in any way. It has been such a long ride it seems to get to this point but we are loving our boat and I feel a lot of the long lurking, multiple dealer visits, research all worked out for me and our needs. I hope you and your family have great success with your new Makai and have a killer maiden voyage. Indmar has their own manual for the engine and in there is the break in procedure if you haven't checked it already. It's a little different than the Yamaha break in so give it a read. They recommend no heavy ballast or people loads but to be honest you will want to test the system out from time to time to make sure everything functions during your break in and if there will be something the dealer will need to agrees when you bring it in for the first service, which I also recommend you let them do. They will check shaft alignment, change all fluids and go over the boat real good and correct any issues you may find during the 10-20 hour break-in period. Best of luck bud and so happy for you! Can't wait to see pics and vids of her on the water!!!

Thanks bro. Yeah tomorrow my dealer actually wants me to bring 600 lbs of lead to put in the boat before we test. I've read the break in procedure it's pretty boring lol. Oddly my dealer doesn't want her back till 25-30 hours for first service. I ordered a 950 today from wakemakers so hopefully it isnt messed up. The original 950 could have been chipped during shipping. He didn't go into why the prop didn't preform well just that it didn't preform well. I'm glad my dealer is an avid water sports dude.

The first time you crank her up I think is one of the best things. Then smelling all the cosmoline ...ahh it's awesome. Btw I never realized until a few outings on the boat but when you go to crank it you don't need to hold the key. Just start to bump it over and you can let go and she'll continue firing up. I was holding it like my old 2010 F150 requires but like a lot of new cars and such you just need to bump it over and it will do the rest. Have fun tomorrow!! I'm jealous and will be thinking of you while I slave away in my shit office space lol. We finally get a break in weather this weekend and I'm for sure taking the boat out since its been weeks!! For the break-in I know your dealer says he doesn't want it until those hours but if you're going to be doing a lot of surfing in between I'd take it in by the 20 hours but your call. It wouldn't be the end of the world but just double check there is no lawyer or warranty mumbo jumbo in the Moomba or Indmar owner's manual regarding when it needs to be serviced. I'm sure 25-30 would be fine but if it were me I'd just go by the book. Have a freaking blast tomorrow!!! Too bad you live far away or I'd take a sick day and come meet you on the water tomorrow.

Our office has 2" of sewage under it from multiple old leaky pipes. We literally have a shit office. But I'm the CEO and part owner so I'm off till Monday. And we have been very blessed this year. We are already ahead of last year's totals. And last year was a great year. The first new industry in our lifetime really and my family is taking full advantage of our skillsets. So just turn the key and she'll do the rest? Since we live in WA on the west side if it's not snowing I'm surfing lol. I don't mention this much but 6 years ago my dad and I went to go look at a surf boat. Then were quickly shocked by the cost and left wondering how long it would take to pay cash for one. That was the year we started his business. For Xmas he gifted my wife and I each 5% in the company after we blew past projections for the second year in a row. Always good to have goals. Always better to achieve them. That day we set out to one day pay cash for a surf boat. Not to brag just to be able to come from not a cent saved for it to writing the check. Tomorrow will be one of the coolest days of my life in all reality.

So the ACME 2419 is my favorite surf prop coupled to the 400 and the 440. I bet the 450 would do well with it as well. If I was buying a spare I would try one out. 2419 is a 15x12 with .075 cup. The 2315 is also a 15x12 with .105 cup. I prefer the 2419. Main point is why buy another 15x13 as your spare. Adventure a bit. 2419 holds speed at the top end play as well.

Not to be that guy as well but I'm an Indmar certified tech that services probably 200+ Raptors in various configs from 360 to 575SC. Have many customers that ballast up and roll right out the gate with zero issue and have over 300 hours on the boat. Have only seen 1 Raptor failure so far. Belt failed and customer kept running thru the overheat and bank 2 popped the head gasket. Coolant was pumping into all 4 holes.

Stoke you arent on a 20 year note. That's huge!! CONGRATS!!. Best part is if you want to move up to a Supra or something else later you wont be "underwater" on the boat.

Hell yea man that's an awesome success story in the making sounds like. Well except the shit sewage part :D. And yup just start to turn the key to the ignition and once you hear it start to crank over just let go and if it's like mine which I'm sure it is then she will continue cranking on her own until she fires up :). I vaguely remember my salesman telling me just to blip it over but at the time I didn't know what he meant and now I do.

When I meant spare prop I meant another to change up and also have as a backup. I don't mind playing with props sizes. I've had mine up to 42 mph GPS verified and I think turning around 5700 RPM but I never care to ride her that fast. The engines can certainly take it as they have been rock solid reports over the years. I just typically cruise around 25-35 mph. I plan to run 4500-5500 lbs of ballast when it's all said and done. I think the 945 will be fine still at those loads but don't mind experimenting with other sizes for the backup prop. Who knows maybe the 945 will turn into the backup after I buy another if I like it even better.

I hear you. I find that the drop in pitch is great if you plan on running big weight. Full disclosure, havent run the 2419 on any of the 1.76 ratio boats just the 1.5s.

I was just throwing around options as I've never seen the point of having two identical props as a weekend saver(unless you consistently boat at the same lake/elevation and love your performance). Its nice to have something to run when you go up.

We boat between 3k and 5k and the 2419 pushes BIG weight at elevation with ease.

We never travel to places with elevation. Always stay in-state near sealevel. Performance for us out the 400 at sealevel is amazing even with the 1.5 tranny. So far I haven't felt the need for more power but we also haven't even begun to upgrade the ballast so thing may change. Our crew size is usually 4-6 adults and a 9 year old. If this were a Malibu or Axis with the wedge there's no way it would plane out with 15 people on board lol. I had a hard enough time getting an Acis A22 to plane with just 2 adults and full pnp ballast plus wedge. Granted it was floating wedge and not power but still. When I had 15 people onboard I didn't engage AutoWake to take full advantage of using all 3 plates with launch system activated and even with just the smart plate at 100% then to default 75% it did surprisingly well and didn't take long to plane out. The sound of the Raptor is amazing when she's at full tilt and better than the GM in the Axis I drove.
