I've read several posts on carrying hose clamps in case you are being towed (including adding the shut off valve). I have three simple questions:

FYI - I have a 2017 242 LTD S

1) Is there just one hose that you clamp? (I've seen pics of just before the "Y" where you clamp it, but not sure if it's just the one hose).

2) What do you recommend for a clamp(s)?

3) Would the attached product in the link below work?

Thanks for anyone that can answer.

I got a few of these on Ebay

I appreciate the response and the info.
Do you know if there’s just one hose to clamp or two?
Thanks

Your timing is impeccable! I to am trying to figure this out. Following...

Glad that it’s not just me! Hopefully, we’ll get the experts to chime in.

I installed a shut off valve instead. You can either get the white and red handle PVC type or the brass type. Never worry about it again. Sorry, no pics.

What size valve?

Thanks for chiming in. Looks like it would work but wonder if the less expensive plastic ones work as well.
They're very well made....don't flex at all. I keep a few in my gear bag on the boat.

Here’s a pic showing where to find the hoses and close up of where to clamp. I borrowed these pictures from the thread below.

I've seen these pics as well but now it makes sense that I need two clamps (first pic) and the close up of one of them for where to clamp it (bottom pic). Thanks for your help!

I guess Yamaha changed things up a little bit for 2019. My '19 SX210 has a 5 way PVC fitting instead of the above pix used by Stevenpigooie. I guess I need two clamps per engine (or valves, but I'm not ready to cut into them yet.....let me get over the trauma of a electrical thru-hull first.)

Clamps on one and two, right?Inkeduntitled_LI.jpg

Three is the 5 way PVC fitting.

@Zechbruder Most likely you only need to clamp #1 in your picture. #2 is from the adapter to run the engine off the hose in the driveway. No need to clamp that while towing on the water.

Guess I could clamp it, start the engine, open the exterior fed water hose. If nothing comes out within a few seconds (tick tock, tick tock.....yer engines running!!!) and then unclamp it....
