Yep, same mixing canister. I also keep the engine flushing attachment on, as it produces a rather powerful pressurized stream of water. If you feel you’re using more salt-away then you care to on the boat, using a quality boat wash/shampoo will work as well. Everyone has a different approach to cleaning their boat - some scrub the entire interior/exterior after each outing, some do a quick rinse, and a “major cleaning” a few times a season. Just have to see what works for you.

Don’t know if you treated your vinyl. 303 makes a great product for UV protection, there are others as well.

Enjoy your new toy!
The Dealer supposedly did a Wash/Wax and Vinyl Protectant as part of the Rigging/Setup prior to delivery. That said, I have purchased some 303 Marine (I assume this can be used on pretty much everything, or should I get the Vinyl specific 303?) and plan to spend some time on the boat after taking her out tomorrow.

For the Salt Terminator, seems safe to use on everything - any issues spraying the Bimini, electronics, etc.?

The boat is stored in a Boatel (actually indoors now....), so do you all typically recommend leaving the storage compartments open to dry out? Still waiting on a cover, but want to make sure everything has the ability to thoroughly dry out.

I don’t spray engine compartment but I do spray it and clean out plugs with 6-56 silicone spray. I pretty much spray the entire boat top to bottom with salt away then rinse after a few minutes. Then flush and dry boat off. Sometimes I scrub with car soap with carnuba wax and a wash mit if it’s really grimy on the bottom. Most of the time you can spray whole boat with one cap full of salt away. Salt is very corrosive I wouldn’t let it sit on boat for days and weeks.
Well - Spent the entire day on the water today. Did the 1 hour free docking lesson with the captain at 10 and then stayed out until around 3. Ended up running Broad Bay, the narrows, made a stop at the Marina with Premium Fuel and then ran the Bay to see the dolphins (which there were a ton of - pretty awesome!) She ran perfectly. Paddle shifters work as expected, no Check Engine Light, firing on all cylinders.

Got her back to the dock, they pulled her out and moved to the work racks. Washed everything down and hooked up to hose - flushed Starboard engine without issue. Started flushing Port engine - the same way, and all was good at first. Walked around the boat while it was flushing and when I came back around, it no longer had water coming out of the pisser. Before I could get to the helm the overheat alarm was going off. Had to run back down, kill the water, and then kill the engine.... Now what!?!

Sounds like a great day until the end…

Was the hose potentially kinked? Can you visually verify the flush valve house on the boat is not kinked? Not familiar with your boat and how the hose is run.

I would try firing it back up and seeing if the issue repeats itself, watching to ensure water is flowing out the pump/pissers.

Also, get a hose shut off valve to attach to the hose so you don’t have to run to turn the hose one/off when flushing, switching engines, etc. I attached two samples below.

I am going back first thing in the AM to check everything out. Had it cleaned up and I had to go.

Going to check all the hoses before attempting to turn the engines. I’m just baffled why the water was coming out of the pisser and then stopped. And had been fine all day. I wonder if it was a water pressure problem?

I have seen other posts about the overheat code. Am I going to have to have the dealer clear? And does that have any impact on warranty?

Definitely getting the hose shutoff valve!

You will get a notice on the connext on startup that you need to see the dealer. That will go away maybe 6 or so rides. It clears itself.

You were absolutely correct! Took her back out yesterday and intentionally stopped and cycled multiple times. The CEL and alarm cleared. Appreciate the feedback!

I think my issue is the salt away adapter/canister. Without the adapter the engines flush and water comes out the bottom and the pisser. But as soon as I attach that adapter, water only comes out the bottom. This is using the work racks at the marina, so pressure doesn’t seem like it would be the issue. Perhaps a faulty adapter?

On the adapter on the top black piece you can turn the black piece from salt away, regular water rinse and also off. It wasn’t on off was it? I do 5 min fresh water then 1 minute salt away then turn water off then couple small engine Revs to blow excess water out then shut it off. Hope you get it figured out.

think my issue is the salt away adapter/canister.
I have two or three of those mixing canisters and have noticed they all reduce pressure. If you look inside the mixing valve, you can see it reduces the waterway down to maybe an 1/8 of an inch or so. I use quick connect hose fittings and a valve similar to what I shared above and do the following….

1) Turn on hose to ensure no kinks
2) Turn off my shut off valve at hose end
3) Connect Flush Adaptor to hose/boat
4) Fire up engine, open up the hose valve
5) Flush with water for 5-7 mins
6) Turn off valve at hose end, and using the quick connects, add the salt away mixing canister (I keep this set in the “mix mode”)
7) Turn valve back on for 30-45 seconds to allow Salt-Away to flow through the cooling system
8) Turn valve back off, and shut off engine
9) Remove Salt-Away mixing canister and start back at #3 for second engine

Here is a picture of one of my set-ups (for the boat, I use a larger shut off valve, as the bore on this one is a little restrictive, but works fine on the jet ski)

Hope this helps you with ideas, and makes it more efficient at the wash rack for you. This is the first season I’m keeping my boat at a high and dry, and I’m still fine tuning my cleaning regimen…

Ha! I though the same thing at first. But no, it wasn’t off. And it was definitely mixing and foaming out through the jets ports - just nothing through the pisser. Tried it again yesterday and had the same issue - this time I was watching more closely though, so when the engine started to steam/smoke I shut it down before another overheat.

Will talk to the service department and have them look at it as well - just to make sure when it going in for the 10 hour service.

Nice setup! What quick connects do you use? My concern is that they could restrict the flow ... do they?

Great question. The quick connects were from Amazon. They are not copper, so I have noticed that overtime they do need to be replaced, but in my opinion still a value. They may restrict the water some, but not noticeably.

As for the hose shut off, I use the Gilmour product from Home Depot, as its the least restrictive valve I could find. The one in the picture I initially posted, is not the “gilmour” product, and is more restrictive. I just happen to have it laying around in the garage as a “back-up”.

Was glad to finally get to see you on the water today. We had a beautiful day for it!
@NewBoater I'm terrible with names - remind me again?

The day was definitely beautiful! So nice, in fact. that we thought the Boatel closed at 8.... Turns out it was 6! Ha! Had to leave it in the slip overnight, so I was back out at 8AM this morning to get it on the wash rack and cleaned up before the rain came through!

Nate, You are doing an incredible job keeping up with that boat so far on the cleanings! Most people do not with salt water and they pay for it in the end. I am very religious about it as well. We will be out on the water this weekend again if the weather gives us some stretches worth going out surfing for a few hours.

Ha! Yes, I am religious about cleaning my "toys"! Between a plane, 3 motorcycles, and now the boat - it's basically become a full-time job!

I have a client maintenance all day tomorrow, but should be out on Sunday as well weather permitting! Hope to see you out there!

Holy Moly a plane?? That’s amazing! Are you a pilot also? What kind of plane is it? You need a helicopter to get down here fast for the weekends and no drive time :)

A plane indeed. I am a pilot, yes. Got my pilot's license when I was 15. It's a Cirrus SR22T.

Helicopter would be nice. That one that comes down through the narrows is awesome. It was basically running parallel to us the other day!

Amazing! The plane and getting the license at 15, well done on both! I’ve seen that plane in narrows also. What places have you gotten to fly to? Do you bring it down this way or normally just drive?
