I got the aluminum tabs! Work fine so far. The hinge is plastic which was weird but no problems.
I have the MLC controller. I only engage them when needed. Which isn't often. Personally I don't see the need for auto leveling. Been on a Yamaha with it and with it turned on. On our boats just a little deployment 1st or maybe 2nd, extremely rare, anything more is pointless and you will stuff the bow.
Trim tabs on Yamahas wont help bow go up at all, only push it down more so you may not get the effect your looking for.
I was actually out there 2 weeks ago! Hauled my boat up from Florida... I was really surprised the waves there get real close together it was calm at the shore, I went about 2 miles out got pretty roughed up! Its not near that bad on the Gulf even when the Gulf has bigger waves. Every time I got sprayed it felt off though, cold water and the taste was.... not salty not sure how I felt about it!
Awesome. Yeah the waves up here in the great lakes and bays are much closer together. Takes some time to get used to them and get a feel for it. It can go from great to very nasty very quick.
That's my biggest complaint the bow needs to come up more! That is what has me hesitant on the trim tabs, I know they will give me a smoother ride. But my comment about wanting to bring the bow up was a complete separate one from the trim tabs sorry about the confusion. Like I said I have had these on my last boat for years and I had the opposite problem with the Sea Doo had to keep the bow down! Usually used the tabs at 1/2 to 3/4 down to smooth out. I just feel we could get another 5+ MPH if that bow would get up out of the water!
Like @HangOutdoors was saying, in 1 ft maybe 2 ft chop the tabs smooth the ride out, but anything more than that and I don't use them.
Pretty sure the 25' FSH would handle it Much, Much better....... That is what I want when the time is right.
