Bimini 2024??

booked a slip in fishermans village from 13-16th of june and a couple condos in Bimini bay.....let me know what time you guys plan on heading out and if you need anything as im local and may be able to help @robert843
I'm interested in making the trip too. I would be heading out from Harbour Towne marina. I haven't booked hotel or dockage yet. I see that the dock at Resorts world is full online. Do you or the group have connections to get me a spot there? If not where would be the best place to dock close enough for it to make sense?

Best bet to call and see what is available. Plenty of air bnb places to stay. Bimini cove may have some as well but then not at the casino area.

Thanks for the reply. I have a spot secured at Bimini Bay Marina - Fishermans Village.

When are you crossing?
We are watching the weather now….o_O
We kinda hooked up with a group on Facebook that will be crossing with a couple of boats
Our window is still the 16-17
We will be arriving at the Bahia Mar on the 15th
If Mother Nature gets her meds straight!

I'm scheduled to cross with robert843, kasted1, and some other boats from June 13-16. We're watching the weather too though. Hoping it clears up over the next few days.

Waves and wind are always sketchy in June, It does not get consistently good until July.

? I have always had the worst luck in July. After about 30 crossing I feel like it doesn’t matter if it’s June or July it’s all luck of the draw on days. In the last four years we have made crossings in both in June and July each year and every July trip has kicked our butts. I don’t necessarily blame July but I’ve not had any better luck in July than I have in June. Actually I’ve had better luck in June. So much so that now when I plan trips in July my wife refuses to cross she just books a flight. actually wrong about the four years because in 2020 our June trip that we had planned got canceled due to Covid but we did go on our July trip and we should not have. We were two boats 33 foot renegade with trip 350s on the back and I was in a 30 foot seahunt Gamefish twin 300 ‘s and we were coming back from Staniel Cay we wound up hitting seas close to 10 foot in the tongue in the ocean and close to Fort Lauderdale the 33 foot boat Blasted through a 10 foot wave lost its windshield, lost its radar, sent one of the passengers flying into the tower. He wound up needing stitches on his head as we pulled into Fort Lauderdale a 33 foot boat actually had taken so much water on electronics got wet in the boat caught on fire. Fortunately they were able to extinguish it quickly and we were able to limp in but it was a mess again doesn’t matter what month you pick all luck of the draw and knowing when to say no we should have said no. we just didn’t have a choice that Bahamas had closed again for Covid and we were being kicked out in the forecast for the 10 days following was actually no better than the day we left.

I literally become a whole different person the week before a crossing because of the weather
But I figured out why
It’s nothing I can control or do
Can’t find a place to stay
No biggie I can scour the internet for hours till I find something
Can’t find a place to park…. I can work on that too
The only thing I can do about the weather is hope and pray…..
Mother Nature is in complete control of that
?? for all of us that things turn around and the seas are smooth and the weather is beautiful!

After our first trip we realized the pool at Bahia Mar is pretty nice and the bar serves good enough drinks that we would rather spend an extra night there than get pummeled on the crossing.

Good to know!
I have never explored the place but this time 2 of the wives are taking the ferry over and the ferry only runs certain days and times
So looks like we will have time to kill.

100% I would even take it a step further I watch the overall forecast as a whole, even if we have a good crossing conditions but they’re calling for the weather to suck the whole time I’m in Bimini. I have no desire to go then as well, if I’m just gonna sit at the resort and do nothing, I’d rather sit at a resort in Florida and do nothing there’s a lot more to do ?.

Our trip this weekend was canceled due to weather. Are you confirmed for July 6th? We may be able to join you.
We are heading over on july 8 if weather is good. Maybe earlier if driving goes well

I'm not due till the 8th but been watching weather for weeks now as far out as my app allows. I don't think over 2 footers will happen for us. In fact we were out on Lake Michigan yesterday and 1.3-1.4 footers sheered a bolt on the bimini (i had to replace one i lost years ago so had bought spares but how ya get the sheered one out while on water?!)
Also a picure one of my apps had of wi dy days and therefore probability of success.
And lastly a picture of my new seats and marine matt.
Hope you bimini bound check that weather!

I have previoulsy tracked those apps to gauge their accuracy, and found their predictions more than 2 days out to be off by at least a factor 2. And even their predictions for the day itself compared to reports of boaters actually out there have shown significant discrepancies.
I would look no more than 2 days out, and even then be sceptical.
And 2.6’ @ 6 seconds is not a bad forecast (not great either though).
And lastly, trying to cross with the bimini up is asking for trouble. Leave it down until you get there.

Ours is a hard mount on aftermarket tower. No lowering just removable fabric

This is the tower and bimini. Bimini is better constructed than tower in my opinion. The bold that sheered after what we do out on lake michigan year after year doesn't really surprise me.freeride-tower-black-wakeboarding__79706.jpg

Concur. Since I like to live vicariously, if I were going on 7/8 my forecasting prognosis would be slightly concerned but still within the realm of "go" on the binary scale.

Customs going into bimini is now an app? How do i say i plan on crossing the 8th, but might cross the 7th or 6th depending on weather?
