    If you decide to get a new ball, I would recommend a Class III or IV ball that can handle 7,500 or 10,000 lbs tgw.     Trailer hub replacement

    While not recommended, I have done just that on a couple previously owned Honda Accords that I did axle replaces on. I never had any problems with either car axles afterwards. YMMV
