1.8L Timing Chain Confirmation

I’ve stressed and lost many nights of sleep, when I first got my AR240 about 6 months ago @swatski can confirm that lol?. I try not to let it bother me and just have FUN and build lasting memories. It is always in the back of my mind, and I do get worried when I’m out in the Pacific Ocean far from home and in chop. I just baby her and try not to catch to much air on the backside of the swells. I was told that puts stress on the TC, so that’s when I worry especially when it’s 30+ miles to the harbor. But I don’t let it stop me and it’s been awesome so far, knock on wood. I will be doing a visual inspection of the TC first week of September, when I’m doing some other upgrades. Go out boat safe and have a Blast.??

Yes however the odds of BOTH engines blowing a chain at the same time is nearly impossible I have p w c's so the one that has not hatched yet does concern me , I had to paddle over a mile when the one hatched, fortunately the wind was at my back and I always carry a small cooler with water in it just to be safe and a bright yellow towel to tie to the paddle handle as a distress signal.

Make sure to use yamabond4 when you replace the gasket as indicated in your pic of the service manual. Otherwise the cam "notches" will suck in and leak badly. Ask me how I know ;)
I would ABSOLUTELY replace the gasket.

Is it any gasket sealant I can get at Discount/Auro Zone/Napa/Orieily's if one place has a better alternative?
Thanks, looking to finish reassembly tomorrow and have no yamahbond 4 1280B

I wouldn't use anything but yamabond. Or honda equivalent. Anything i have seen in automotive is not really a case sealant. Its silicone based and not as durable

Allegedly Threebond makes the different types of Yamabond and Hondabond. Allegedly!

Wouldn't doubt it. I have used both and are exactly the same in my opinion
