2005 AR230 saga continues, now I have water in the oil

Here is an update.....Took the boat out today, ran it for a bit and checked the engine bay, only to find oil all over the place. The valve cover gasket is spraying oil, all over the place! Guess its a call to SBT again....ugh!

Something is really wrong if the valve cover is doing anything more than a small leak.

Well, the seal popped out a bit at the end of the head where there is a half circle indent in the head, so it's a pretty big hole that sprays oil. Spoke with SBT, and they are sending me a new gasket. It's not gushing, more of a fine mist of oil, but it's all over the place.

Well, just run that puppy until all the oil is out. Then crank up the bow and open the bilge plug with a bucket under it. Then you can have the oil changed.

Then fix the gasket.

Thanks for the pics of the ribbon removal is all you did was take off the metal screens

HAHA!! Good idea ;)

Make sure to seal it with either "three bond" or Yamabond4"

@cybuch, hope things are on the mend. As an update on mine, I upgraded both flush fittings and ran all day without a single drop of water in the engine compartment! It feels good to have things back to "normal" and better than before in some ways- no more leaks when flushing (or running on the lake for that matter).

That's awesome @Seadeals. Glad to hear.

Yeah, but now that I considered buying a vx wave runner, I kinda want one!

I know what you mean. I've been rebuilding my original engine (swapping cases) and plan on putting it back in the boat mid season. Which will leave me with a "spare engine". I'd much rather have the spare engine in a waverunner following my boat on the lake. You know, "just in case" ;)

I've been on he lookout for a waverunner with a cooked engine that I could pick up for cheap. So far no luck.

Yeah, most people seem to crash them and trash the hull before they blow the motor.

@Seadeals Thats awesome!!! Mine, not so much. I replace the valve cover gasket and took it out today, but I still have a slow oil leak somewhere. I plan to put it on the hose and see if I can find where its coming from. I just hope...fingers crossed, I don't have to pull the damn thing out again!

Great news, it looks like I don't have an oil leak anymore. The oil I was seeing after the valve cover change is clean clear oil, it worked its way down the motor after I spilled all over the oil tank while trying to fill on the water.

the stopper in my port engine always blows off. I tried a brand new one and it still did it. the starboard one stays just fine.

I found my originals in the bilge. I bought new ones. They don't blow out, they actually suck down. Have you bought new ones? They were much more flexible than the hard crusty old ones. (Port)
