I think I go the @Jebinok route and install the speakers on the lower platform area.

I preferred mine where you originally thought to put them. Like @Drift Away just have the cushion cut/restitched. Sure mines a 240 but it's the same concept. I wouldn't want a hole or an expensive speaker that close to the water all the time

Where you have yours is my ideal spot. But I can’t see a 6.5” speaker fitting in that location. I thought the 212’s had 6.5” speakers there but maybe they have 5.5” speakers.

Once I cut up there, no turning back. I should try to pop the speaker grill off and fit it there.

At this point, I haven’t drilled any holes yet.

Looking at this pic, couldn't you just place the speaker more to the right?
What hard to tell in the pic, but the fiberglass already has an indent. I have the right edge of the template up against the indent.

Here is a better picture 58E5024C-D1F4-47F7-90E8-1C067CF113EE.jpeg

And more to the right, the fiberglass is curved.

Yup never mind thought that was just a glare.
Everything is working against me putting 6.5” speakers in the upper location.

If anyone has done this on a 2016 and above 21’ boat, please let me know.

This is where I am going to put mine. Ran the wires today.
Your stereo build thread has been helpful as we have just about the same boats. good thread you have!

How are you going to tie the swim deck speakers into the mix?

@jeff_s I still think you might be able to go into the first location, as @ThatJeepGuy suggested. Here are some pics of my install, I got the DB651s (6.5") to fit REAL tight but it worked very well - I don't have measurements but you can approximate from proportions to the metal brackets etc.

...And here is what happens if you decide to pick up wake surfing, lol, and start running with some 800-1,000 lbs of ballast in the swim deck!

I'm in the same boat...I'm currently getting my cushions cut down to fit the 6.5s (soon to be 7.7s)...for some reason all the upholstery shops near the lakes I boat are super busy and more than the $100 some others have spent.

I don't like the idea of good speakers being exposed to water so often, mostly the backwash that's unavoidable.

To bad JL don't make 5.25s

5.25” would be ideal in my sitauation. On the 21’s, the space in that area is very limited.

Great pictures. But it seems you guys with 24’s just have a bit more room.

I’m sure someone with 212 could chime in with their speaker size. If a 6.5” can fit in a 212, then I can fit one. I just can’t justify drilling any holes just yet.

Tower speaker justification: with the speakers mounted to the tower they won't be deafening anyone lounging on the swim platform. You won't have to cut a giant whole in the fiberglass. No altering of the seat cushion. Brings the sound up and out of the boat so you can hear the music farther away. Since you already have the speakers all you need is a couple of speaker cans.
At $115 for the pair was worth it to me

Learn something new everyday...they make empty cans. And they are on sale!
I appreciate the response.

This is a real option as I have mixed feelings about the swim deck options.
