2017 SX190 - Communication error occurred between the PC and ECM

Communication error occurred between the PC and ECM.
Red light on cable turns red when I bump engine, then turns off.
Get same error if I leave the engine running.

Using YDIS cables from Amazon, connect well, using YDIS v1.33.
Installed software using Admin.
Com port = 1
Bumped the engine.

Do I have to use Yamaha proprietary cables and software?

Keep getting false engine alarms wanna clear any codes.

Any suggestions?

You have the wrong version of yds for your year boat. 1.33 is for boats prior to 2013.

In the model year 2013, the YDS software changed from version 1.33 for previous M/Y's up to 2012, to version 2.13 for 2013 up to?. Finding that software is like finding a unicorn. And much more expensive. A Yamaha boat or pwc dealer/shop can read faults as Scott said.

I have the Service Manual for 2016-2018 SX190 (LIT-18616-rx-01).

Front of the manual says to use YDIS v1.33.
Back of manual says to use YDIS v2.00.

Ever wonder what your engine hours are, how to read them, if your engine threw errors? Well first of all you will need some software (YDS 1.3) and a Cable (Ebay is a good source). Once you have that, here is the process from start to finish of what you need to do:

1. Install the software 1.33 for 2012 or before models. It looks as if you need YDIS 2.13 for 2013 and newer boats. At the moment it appears there is no available software to access these boats. (on some kits sold on EBAY, it has 2 disks...one for the YDS, and one for the cable driver--install BOTH)
2. Update...

Thanks. The Amazon sites say v1.33 are good for up to 2017. Just gonna try to find v2.00 or higher.

My 2017 Yamaha SX195 seems to be running a little rough. I like to do my own maintenance and was thinking about the Candoo Pro. Does anyone know if this is compatible with the Yamaha jet boats?

We sold our Scarab to move up to a cabin cruiser. Have my Candoo pro setup if someone needs one.
I don’t remember what the licensing requires. I’ve got the original box and cables along with the license key and software.
We used it with our 2015 215HO successfully for the last 7+ yrs.

Make an offer, just wanting it to be used somewhere. Local is better but we never saw another scarab in the wild around here.
