2018 242x Issues

Picked up a 2018 242x w/ 80hrs in October and purchased the extended 2yr warranty.
-Wanted to see if anyone has had these issues with their boats and if the warranty took care of anything.

1. Top Bezel Glove Box Crack

2. Bimini Tower Paint Coming Off


3. Gas Strut Broken

I have the exact same boat. I have not had those particular issues, but did have several similar cosmetic/minor issues like those (decal scratches, Yamaha logo falling off, small gel coat defects, engine insulating foam falling off, etc). The warranty covered none of them. In general I’ve found the Yamaha warranty to be among the worst of any product I’ve ever purchased, which is why I would definitely not recommend extending it to anyone. But YMMV of course.

For the tower, try contacting XTP directly.

I suspect your aftermarket service plan (warranty ?) mainly covers hull and engine?

I have a 2019 242x and had a cracked glove box door. They replaced the entire glove box insert, complete housing and door. It was fully covered under warranty. No charge. Good luck!

I am guessing you left the boat at the Yamaha dealer for this repair? How long did it take?

The repair was completed during my winter service. It only took a few weeks to get the part in and a day for install.
