2018 Bimini June trip (June 24th - June 30th)

Any idea of what is the best bug repellent to buy? I got my a** handed to me on a platter last time by those pesky insects. This year I am very open to bug repellent oils/clothes/electronic devices etc.

I saw a post on THT and the resounding answer was a product from AVON called Skin So Soft..

Everyone should take those nasty little fuc..ers SERIOUSLY !
They will really annoy you and YOUR KIDS. Potentially making it a less then fantastic vacation !

The Off brand makes something similar and they market it as a dry touch repellent. The regular repellent is usually a greasy or sticky feeling and the dry touch stuff is the opposite and it works good. It's sometimes hard to find an Avon rep to get the SSS stuff.

rte 95 is going to undo all your hard work by the FLA border......which is the 1/2 way mark !!

That and parking outside for a week in FL.

So i broke down and bought one of those ENGEL (yeti knockoff) coolers. got one to fit in the ski locker of the 212x. thing arrived yesterday, the inside can barely hold a box of tissues !!

who has one and what size do you have? I'm thinking the ENGL65

DIMENSIONS & CAPACITY
Exterior Dimensions : 29.25" x 16.75" x 16.75"
Interior Dimensions : 24" x 12" x 12"

You definitely lose interior holding capacity on these types of coolers because of all the insulation however the extra insulation definitely makes a difference. We ended up going with a tundra 65 which was slightly bigger on the overall dimensions than what we had from our cheap Rubbermaid cooler but the inside dimensions were comparable. For just the two of us it’s the perfect size plus it fits the need for us for Bimini. Also, after going out on the lake this Sunday we left ice in the cooler and three days later we still have a little bit of ice left. It doesn’t fit in any of the storage lockers on our boat, but it fits perfectly between the seats in the rear and we use it as an extra stepping spot getting on the boat

If any one still looking for a handheld vfh I just grabbed a Standard Horizon HX210 for my crew that's flying in so they can reach me which is Standard Horizon's newest model it's a 6 watt, floating, waterproof vhf radio. I picked it up at West Maine they price matched Boatersland Marine's price of $89.88 and Standard Horizon currently has a $20 rebate on it so basically a new model 6 watt floating handheld unit for $69.88 which is the cheapest I could find a 6 watt unit for new.

My buddy sent me this tonight. This is from our 2016 crossing. Our deal was he could only bring 5 twelve packs for himself. He brought 5 cases (24 packs) and still ran out. By Wednesday he was buying more. Beer prices are roughly double, plan accordingly everyone

I see your problem but I am not sure that you do.......

@ThatJeepGuy has anyone ever been thoroughly checked for alcohol quantity at customs. I ain't running out of beer.

I've only heard of 1 boat getting checked but that was because of a discrepancy of their total food amount. I believe @Bruce could answer that better than me

99.8% deet, nothing compares. You can get it on Amazon as long as you don't live in California or similar I believe.

@Gofish206, @ACrews is the only Cap’n that has ever had his boat checked. In his case there was a lot of bragging about all the steaks they brought that led to a boat inspection without any consequence. Officially the importation limit is $100 of food per person per week. The limits on alcohol are very low however I believe there may is a technical difference in ship stores which are temporarily imported and product taken ashore as a permanent import.

But we should refocus on rum. Beer is like rum but with way too much water.

Does anyone have a recommendation for a reasonably priced easy to use drone?
