So I was out in the river this weekend and I sucked up a nice stick about 3 in diameter jammed up the port impeller pretty good. Immediately I thought these clean out ports better work! I hopped to the back of the boat popped open the hatch, pulled out the plug and reached my hand in and I could feel the the stick jammed In there pretty good. Luckily I was able to free up the stick and boom port engine was free and up and running again! Not 3 minutes later port engine jammed up again and I couldn’t get the throttle to go into forward felt like something was jammed again. Putted back to the dock on just the starboard engine and as I pulled up to dock throttle freed itself. Just as a precaution I opened clean out again and found a pine cone. After i left the dock she ran beautifully both engines at 7500 rpm for the rest of my ride. Next morning i pulled the boat out of the water on the way to the launch had throttles full open no problems at all. Get the boat back to the house and begin the flush process flush the port engine no problems flush the starboard engine and I noticed a different noise then from port and starboard engine wouldn’t rev past 2500rpm. I’m hoping it was just because there wasn't enough water flowing but I’m a little worried. Anyone have any ideas or suggestions as to what it may be?

The impeller sounds normal it’s more coming from the engine itself almost like it wasn’t gettin enough power

Most of the time spark plugs are the issue but your boat is so new so I don’t know. And 2500 rpms is weird. Seems like protect mode but you would get a check engine light with that.

Are you sure there is no remaining debris at the intake to the pump?

Im sure I climbed underne and check the intake grate on both engines. Even so it was the port engine that got jammed up with the debris and this is the starboard engine that’s sounding strange.

Have you pulled the blowout plug on the starboard engine?
Is it possible that you overfilled the oil? You might see a telltale sign if you remove the starboard air box. However, I am not sure if overfilling with oil can flood the airbox on your motor?

What do you mean by blow out port? I only have the boat less then a month it’s just now due for its first 10 hour service I didn’t fill it with oil myself.

The plug you take out when something obstructs the flow of water to the pump. Sorry about overfilling with oil! Maybe it is time to let the dealer figure it out. I think of overheating when an engines stays at low rpm. Were you in shallow water when you sucked up the stick?

I'd spend some time looking at that Port engine. See if you can get your fingers down where the impeller meets the wall ... see if you can feel anything in there. I'd then try to look up there with a flash light from the bottom and see if you can see anything. Then try cranking the engine but not start it...just enough to move the impeller and repeat the steps above. This will likely give you a different feel on that impeller.

I run in freshwater lakes and have only flushed the engines maybe once per season so can't comment on the sounds when they are out of the water. One of mine does have a different sound IN the water than the other but as when the engines are at idle. As soon as the pumps are loaded up in gear, the sound goes away.

Yea I’m gonna put the boat back in the water this weekend and see how it is because up until the flush out everything was fine. Yea I was in shallow water at the time

Thank you I’ll give that a try. I’ll be sure to send out an update next week

@Msenz These boats are not a friend of shallow water. Even though they float in 20 inches, it is best not to run them in less than three feet. Salt is not a problem. It flushes out. Sand collects over time and can clog the cylinder water jackets.
