Proud new owner of a 2016 255 Impulse. Had my first rope clog and attempted to take the intake grate off and the two forward screws spin loose now. Was able to get the rope by using my wife's smaller hands, but worried about the spinning screws. Do those holes go all the way through? Is my water integrity gone? Thanks.

They go all try way through. I tried the same thing last year. Dealership had some skinny guy who got under engine to hold nuts while someone below boat tightened screws. I don't know what will happen if you run it that way. They told me to leave grates alone and just pull pumps if I need to get to impeller.

You guys found a way to remove the intake grate?

Taking the pump away sounds like the hard way to me.

No. But I went out and tried again and was able to get the screws tight again. What a freaking horrible design. I looked and felt and couldn't find the nuts on the inside of the engine compartment. Maybe I could find them with a mirror, but not sure why they would require access from above to remove the grates. WTF!?

So are you suggesting I shouldn't remove the grate to get to the rock stuck that is stuck in the impeller? Are there instructions out there on removing the pump?
