A complaint that has been building for a while about certain members of this forum

Contrary to popular belief, we are not here to help you spend your money! :D You do that all by yourself!:winkingthumbsup" We are idea promoters however and it is addictive. Sorry to have been involved! Well, in all actuality, you will do 10 mods, and decide a few years later that only 1 or 2 of them were really necessary. We get caught up, the bug bites...kinda like the tool bug! Love your shop @gmtech16450yz !

How to save money and time and all that stuff, another Jeff trick.
If you tow your boat you should have a small trolley jack , spare etc. Lug nuts can be very stubborn. I have a tire iron and the jack handle to get the stuck lugs loose. I cut a slot in the jack handle at the plastic end so as not to damage the other end that usually has a bar in it or slots in it to operate the jack valve, also the plastic allows you to slide the pointed end of the tire iron into the handle without it falling out while you are using it. This is my emergency breaker bar for getting lugs loose and making sure they are tight.

@FloJet , I am guilty as charged, not apologetic about it at all and would answer to God for every penny spent and each related post.

I earned the money for every mod other than the few that were gifted to me, spent many hours researching them, primarily here since this site was established but on YJB and YouTube as well, and many more hours developing in some instances and installing such mods. So I’m proud of every mod I’ve done, greatful to have access to this and similar sites without which I would not have the knowledge or confidence to do even half of what I’ve done so far. For those with an addictive personality this site could be a problem but the same could be said about many other activities/hobbies (e.g. gambling, drinking, concert going, golfing, etc., etc., etc.). At the same time no one is being forced to read posts or do mods themselves. Boat test sends me email all the time with reviews of boats/yachts and by my definition ships that I will never see in person, board or afford but i still read about them and am glad such messages are sent to me (that is, to have the access).

There is more to this site than mods, Ive read of many friendships started through this board and met a few people that I would not have without this site. Aside from spending money there is a lot of information here that saves members money, like how to change your own oil or winterize your boat, where to get things on sale, what products to avoid . This site is also a good resource regarding various boating locations to consider, as well as how to get there and how to prepare for the trip. How many members that have boated to Bimini or attended the Shellbyville (sp?) gathering so far would have done so without another member doing it first and/or coordinating a group trip and posting about it? A lot that now have experiences with their families and (sometimes new) friends that produced fond memories which will last their lifetimes.

With the above in mind I will end this post with a reminder that Membership to this site is voluntary and free, the owners and moderators don’t ask for donations to support the site and have consistently turned down offers of such support, to them I say thank you for all you do.

@Ronnie Well said. We should not live life regretting things so if Mods gives you peace of mind then I say go for it. I hope everyone on here can live their dreams plus more. All I was saying is we do have to be careful sometimes about what we do boast about cause some people are not quite blessed yet. But on the flip side I do agree with you about working hard and spending that hard earned $. That's another reason America is so great.

My mods will be coming from play/spare money. I sold my old iPhone and had a $200 gift card for doing a market research study. This fully covered my Ultra Fangs. Yamaha sent me $450 for my time - this will go to speakers or subwoofer... depending how the dealer wants to play with pricing. I do a ton of market research studies in my spare time - usually this is my play money and brings in a few extra thousand a year... this will be boat money from now on lol.

Market research? Ya know, i was just thinking yesterday that if i actually filled out all the reciept review things i may actually have won stuff by now.
