Abaco, Bahamas trip June 2017

Move your stern line to the port side if you are staying at that dock through the tide changes.

You need to buy a house over there!

Definitely agree on the house.

We've got a fairly strong current coming from the starboard side. Still think I should? To center or rear? I trust your judgment. Fixed docks + 4' tidal swings are new to me. Cresting high tide now and I'm just sitting on the dock watching how she does. Seems to be ok, but got a long week ahead.

Current won't matter. The line needs to be on the port side so when the tide rolls out the boat won't hang on that line.

Keep line on that post but run across rear platform to rear port cleat.

Bow fine? No need to run that one from port?

Bow looks ok. Personally, I would add 2 spring lines to the starboard center cleat so I could leave lots of slack in the bow line.

Arriving, in sight of land
Avg 30mph

They are making great progress.

Why is their elevation at 20 feet during the crossing ?!!! Shouldn't t they be at 10 feet max ?

GPS position accuracy is around 3 meters altitude is less accurate.

They started again .....

averaging 35mph so far. if we do that we will be in Bimini in 2 hours, right

They were closer to 25 mph crossing the Gulf Stream. Now they are in protected water with minimal winds. It is likely to be a smooth ride. I hope it is. I believe they also have packed lightly as groceries are available at their destination.

As for the Bimini crossing, we will target 20 to 25 mph. If the water is exceptionally smooth we may bump that up to 30. Any faster and we start to leave some boats behind. Especially with the heavy loads we will be carrying.

Overall the conditions look great for their trip.

From @Ramblin Wreck 's better half...

It appears they have stopped in Spanish Cay to let the skis refuel and check out a plane wreckage. Jeremiah just sent a message through his inReach that they have one more 40 mile leg to go.

Looks like they are trying to make the last 40 miles in an hour.
