Well, I guess as time goes on things will start malfunctioning. Blah. So, noticed this weekend that my anchor light on a pole won't work. Its been a year since I've used it and last weekend I pulled it out and could get no light from it. I did change the bulb to no avail. Is there a fuse to check?

Next, one of my two underwater lights stopped working. These were installed on the boat when I bought it off Phil Dills showroom floor brand new, so unfortunately I did not install them and don't even know the brand.

Lastly, I have LED's illuminating from underneath my seat back cushions on the swim platform. The port side ones are out.

Can someone get me started on where to begin troubleshooting? I'm mechanically adept, but electrically lacking, LOL.

Thanks in advance.

I am sorry we didn't see this to help with when you posted Tuesday. Since it is a 2013, you may still have warranty, and I would see if they will cover those add-ons. Not sure, but worth a call to Ryan at PD and ask. I don't know about the lights, doesn't Yamaha offer H2O as an accessory? I don't want to slam the lights, but I know from my shopping that all underwater lights are not created equal. Post up a pick and maybe we can identify the lights, then you could call the manufacturer and see what warranty or suggestion to troubleshoot them that they have. You can run a multi meter behind the light in the line to see if it is getting 12V to start from the switch. Since one is working, I would check the connection to the light or inline from the light to the point where they join. It also may have an inline fuse on each of them, so look for that. If it is blowing a fuse, look for the reason.

Did you install the underseat LED's on the swim deck? That too is going to just be a connection. The 3M tape that they are secured with is a one time use, so pulling them to repair will more than likely ruin the strip, but they are cheap and if you can solder, you can make a new one and hook it up. If you tell me what you have, I may be able to make you a replacement and send it to you, all you would need to do is install it and hook it up...again, if you can solder them together. They make connectors for these strips, but they don't hook up to the wiring, so that is the tricky part.

The anchor light is easy. I expect it is the base that the pole plugs into that is corroded or causing the issue. Look at those connections and clean them up, both the pole end and the inset. Also, if you don't use it often, maybe you are installing the pole incorrectly...just a longshot there, but it has a screw on the base of the pole that aligns with a slot in the base, it can only go one way and work. Once inserted, you tighten the black collar to snug it in the base. If that isn't it, then test with a multimeter the 12 circuit with the anchor light switched on to see if it has power to it. If it doesn't then move upstream towards the switch. Yes, it is breaker protected, but if you have NAV lights on the bow on that side of the switch, then you should have anchor light on the anchor light side...and the anchor light works as well when the NAV lights are on, so in either position, it should be hot with 12V. If it isn't, then the connection behind the switch may be suspect as well. Check the bulb again too, it may not be getting good contact and those contacts could be corroded.

Hope this helps and gets you started. I hate to see you take the boat in this time of year due to the backlog at PD or any dealer for that matter. But they may be able to work with you, getting a claim established, and then letting you bring it in after the season. I am guessing you would like to refrain from having to bring the boat way back up here, so maybe you can take care of some of this yourself. The LED's can be fixed if your willing, as well as the underwater light, but it may just be failed and may have to be warrantied through Yamaha...but I would go to the manufacturer and see if you can get support from them. Let me know if I can help.

Thanks @Mel. I know I can run the issues down, but the problem has been finding the time. We have been out of town with the boat on every weekend I've had off this summer. I'll get to it eventually.

I did look at the connections on the anchor light, both on the pole itself and the boat side and there is no corrosion. I'm about to change jobs so I'll have some time to look into things soon enough. I'm just dreading messing with electrical.
